EastWest Voices of Passion download license Play engine?

I'm confused...

I have no EastWest instruments installed so do not have the EastWest Play engine, is it possible to download the play engine to run Voices of passion? or do I need to buy the boxed version and not the download?

EastWest download licenses are for customers who already possess the necessary library installation files, either on hard drive or DVD's. Please e-mail shipping@jrrshop.com to confirm that you are in possession of these files. JRR will not provide your license until we receive this confirmation.

I had the same question years ago. The bad news: The player is only available in a physical box on DVD or the hard drive that comes with the library! The player is not available for download! You can only download the player updates but not the player itself.

Well that's amazing they must lose lots of business.

Looks like I won't be getting any EastWest products then.... the download price was very tempting, but the boxed versions are just too pricey.

And the System Requirements page says:

Included for both PC and Mac:

* 32-bit standalone and plug-in versions included.
* 64-bit PC VST (host must support 64-bit VST plugins) and standalone versions included.

I cannot believe that you don't get the Player in the downloadable version.

Yes, indeed, these are licence keys you use to register the library on an iLok. You need to have the library files otherwise. There's the TeraPack demo, for example, these downloadable licences would unlock a specific library from that hard drive.


That's how EW rolls. It's not really a nice ride.

Those are downloadable. The ones you see from retail stores labelled as "downloadable" are not actually downloadable--it is just the license that is downloadable, but you still need the installers.

The wording is confusing, but EastWest used to sell a "demo" hard drive that had trial versions of all of their plugins, known as the TeraPack (I believe)--you could buy one of these "downloadable" licenses to activate any of these--similar in nature to Arturia's "The One."

OP, if you're looking to buy EastWest instruments, but direct from EW, because they always have sales that are often not extended to retail stores. They have literally like 10 sales every year, so just subscribe to their newsletter and hold tight, and you will eventually be able to get at least 50% off. They have a lot of good instruments, so I wouldn't necessarily write them off based on the confusing retail experience. They are one of the few developers from whom it is better to buy direct.
