Looking for an audio editor

I really love Audacity and use it a lot, but the "Preview" option when processing with effects, is not quick enough, and i would rather a graphical preview too, so i could see how the processed waveform will look like before i press "Ok".

Is there an audio editor that suits my needs?

You might see if there are some DAW demos, Samplitube might have some
fast effects editing. I like using a larger selection for testing fx
in Audacity, the undo step doesn't bother me, nor the speed. There are
a couple visualization friendly plugins in the free BlueCat collection,

Yeah, Wavosaur.

The coolest thing is it also can host VST plugins (entire racks of them!), so you can do things like batch process a folder full of WAV-files with a rack of VST-plugins. I don't know what other audio editors do this.

I used Cool Edit Pro years ago. Then went to Audacity. Now I tried Waveosaur and I'm deeply impressed. Lightweight, fast, VST support. Thanks for posting this. No need for Audacity anymore.

I have an old copy of Wavelab. V.1.0 I think, boy is it powerful, fast, precise.


With Wavosaur I don't feel the need for anything else. I bought a copy of Sound Forge but they f**ked it up, so.. don't have that..

Hands up for Goldwave! Even if their VST support is still in beta phase, it's a great audio editor. Especially I like the Batch Processor. I've managed to convert all my WAV waveforms into TXT format (and they were thousands of them) with one step, so I can use them now in some older free VSTi that only load TXT files as oscillator.

You could get this mag for cheap: http://www.ppvmedien.de/Recording/KEYS- ... 11433.html and have teh bestest audio editor there is, in a "lite" version.
