Hello KvRrrz!
I just finished up this collab-
https://soundcloud.com/highkoo/tengigga ... -w-aricrey
In some ways its pretty far from my usual style, and mixing it was a whole new adventure.
Just looking for any thoughts on it. Aesthetically or technically.
Thanks!!
Oh yeah, this was done with 100% freeware + FL Studio.

nice soundscape, very...wet, all around
only criticism i can think of right now is that i'm slightly bored with the snare and its long reverb tail at some point. the doubletime part does freshen it up, but how about playing with the decay times (of either the sample or the reverb, or both) over the course of the tune a bit? maybe a few reversed sample swells into the snare would sound nice as well. not overdoing it of course, just some slight touches/varied articulation here and there.
good work, from a freeware afficionado to another.

It's quite good!
So you didn't use the FL instruments only freeware?
Would you share which specific freeware plugins you used in this particular track?

The sounds are terrific in this piece. I really like the crunchy lead sound. Very clear, transparent mix. That transition at about 1:00 = Just some really interesting, out of the ordinary stuff going on in this tune. Nice one.

Thanks so much guys!
It was freeware and FL plugins.
I like to comment on my tracks noting the plugins that were used.
I will do that now and post back here with the list.
I know that the VOS reverb was used a lot-

Good suggestions, thanks.

Ok edited the thread title.
Is it terrible that I think of FL plugins as freeware?
They really are pretty good for the most part. I just think of them as like a 'bonus' that comes with what I really want, the host.
Anyway, its not the most efficiently built project.
I added comments on SoundCloud for whats what.

The sound design really sets this one apart. It's enjoyable because the sounds are constantly changing.
If you are looking for criticism, perhaps the riffs could be a little stronger. I think this could be achieved by composing with generic sounds and only start the sound design once the composition is complete.

I like it - agree that the riffs and melogies could be stronger.
And there's something artificial about the sounds which bugs me, but short of better/more analog-modeled-synths, I'm stuck as to what might improve that. Possibly tape emulation.

Thanks guys.
I see where youre coming from. Yeah the riffs themselves dont progress too much. Most of the movement is really all in the sound design. I get lost there... on both accounts.
I appreciate the 'artificial' note. I was sort of going for a 'fantastic plastic' sound on the top end. Its not usually my thing, but I liked the sort of brittle high end of the synths in this one.
Thanks for checking it out!
