i actually think that the slightly erratic timing and mistakes you mention add to the feel of this track...... in my opinion music like this does not come off well when its too "steralised".
i hate it when you've spent "too much" time on a tune and all you can hear are the mistakes...... put it away for a couple of weeks and then have another listen (just for fun)...... i think you'll be much happier with the results and won't even be able to hear the slip/wobble/scratch that somehow pissed you off for 3 evenings straight.
good tune - and kind of unique with the steel drums.
