If Bitwig really wanted to separate it self from Ableton implementing these 2 features would be a great idea. I would love to be able to mix in Bitwig.

yea, would also like to see something like this here.
directly in the track so that there is no need to put the tool plugin on every track just for proper panning. Also mono tracks would be cool yep, and mono group tracks..

Unfortunately we may never see it. I think to many people who use this kind of product don't care to mix just make beats for fun, even tho it affects their stems in the long run :\

I don't really understand. What's the difference between these and the ones in Bitwig?Suloo wrote:yea, would also like to see something like this here.

I always thought that panning = panning: Left is left and right is right lol. Why would this panning "feature" help you with better mixes?
I'm just curious. Please enlighten me lol.
Thanks

From the screenshot it looks like they have the ability to set the value of each left/right channel's pan value.Jamesoow wrote:I don't really understand. What's the difference between these and the ones in Bitwig?Suloo wrote:yea, would also like to see something like this here.

Bitwig must pan both channels to the same side as the main pan setting, so left/right are both say 30% left instead of being able to pan each channel either way left/right.

In Bitwig and also in Live the pan pot is basically a stereo balance pot. The problem here is, that with a balance pot you loose the information of one channel, when you turn it in the opposite direction. It just lowers the volume of a channel basically. A stereo file or soundsource has different information on both channels, and one is lost or faded down then.
While with a true stereo pan you can place both channels (left&right) without loosing anything. That is why there is the need for panning law, because when you place both channels in the center the amplitude would raise, so you lower that by a pan law of -3db for example.
With a balance poti you do not need a pan law, since you cannot seperate the channels.

On windows your lucky enough to have this plugin here:

On mac i only found a suitable thing from Flux Audio.
The pan poti in Bitwig or Live is basically useless apart from using mono tracks of course.
cheers
