Bassline help....Just can't seem to figure out what's going on.

It's gotta be one of my favorite songs and I'm really trying to undertand the bassline. I don't think it's overly complicated, but I just can't seem to replicate it. At exactly 1:30min you can here it very clearly and again at 3:00min(low passed). How is it grooving so well? Is it simply a 16th note melody over 1 bar? an arppegiator perhaps? or just delay? echo or tape delay? Is something being modulated? Questions I'm asking myself. Hope someone can take a listen and offer some feedback. I'm going nuts trying to figure it out.

It's the following pattern (K=kick B=bass)
[K] [K] [K] [K] [B] [B]
with a side-chain compressor on the bass (kick is the sidechain input) so that first bass note 'ducks' if kick is still playing (or if you play 4 bass notes, where first is on the kick)
Google for "fullon" or "psytrance bassline" to learn more about that kind of bassline setup

i think its using swing settings, which is very rare in trance, but essential in house. if you dont know what swing is, its a type of quantize, that moves every 2nd 16th to the right a little. theres only a little bit on this track, but im sure i can here it, and thats why it has a certain funkiness

Thanks guys, i do fully understand side chaining and swing, and i'm sure there's some of that going on, i'll experiment more with that, but there's gotta be more. I just can't put my finger on it. I'm pretty sure there's some tape delay going on that is sync'ed to the bassline/pattern. It's like I listen to it and say, that's easy, but when i try in logic it's not so straightforward. Any other guesses?

Yeah, kinda initially thought what you said was too basic, but i think you're right, it's simply K-B-B-B-K and some tweaking/swing/delay/sc

It's just a simple sequence with a tiny amount of swing and a filtered delay. The send to the delay is very low. You could make this synth sound in pretty much any synth on the market. I don't hear what you're hearing as far as what would make this tricky.
