well, the adaptive beat grid reacts on your zoom level. Don't get the problem honestly, different purpose..

Ah I think he means triplets and not time signature?
Adaptive grid doesn't recognize triplets and switches away from the manually set triplet mode. I've repirted this as a feature request earlier, but it's worth reporting again. It's annoying, I agree.

I was surprised as hell the grid didn't adapt to using triplets.

Isn't the adaptive grid the opposite of a triplet/quintet/septet grid which is in effect a static grid, given that you set the division and time.
edit: never mind, can see the case for adapting to different time scales as previously mentioned
