can someone please explain to me how to convert WAV to SFZ format?
is there a simple freeware that can convert the WAV?
for example here is a SFZ player...I can`t load WAV files inside...
http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?plugin=Paax&id=216
I read on this site that:
http://www.ariaengine.com/forums/discus ... -to-sfz/p1
I tried it...I wasnt able to make it working
please help me with this...i just want to take wav convert it so sfz and load it under free sampler (i also want to finally understand this sfz thing...)
I tried to use sfZed freeware
and i made a foler with a filer 1.WAV and the sfZed made SFZ format which looked like this
Both files are in the same folders...
still didnt work... I tried rename it from 1.sfZ to 2.sf2 becusae some of this players need sf2...and still couldnt make it happen
I want to take for example an FX sound (no importance if its c0 or d3...its just sound effect) and convert it to SFZ and load it in one of those samples (thats what i need)
I know about KONTAKT and i have it...but still i am curious about this subject
Please help...

I read on this site that:
Code: Select all
1. Create a text file called "whateveryoulike.sfz"
2. Enter
<region> sample=myWav.wav
3. Save the file
That's it. Put the file in the same folder as the sample and you're done.

I think only the payware version of Paax2 could load sfz. If you are struggling to find a free sfz player on KVR, you can click on my signature and search for sfz.

wow, there is a lot of high quality free ware, I don't even want any full versions. Every synth sounds identical to the next. It's a crowd pleasing sound, I'll have to keep my sanity while at home w/ Synthedit stuff that has actual features.
Vanilla can only fulfill so much.

hasn't Mildon just made a new free sfz thing?(i know he has, have
exchanged emails with him about it) - hang on...
so this is what you need:
http://mildon.me/sfzdesigner
haven't had time with it yet, seems to be same sort of sample
mapping approach as with VSampler.
oi, spacedad: 50? you old git.
was trying to persuade Mildon that if he could spit out *.sfz,
he could adapt it for sf2 - i'm still not too clear abt sfz meself,
thought it was an extended parameter soundfont type thing.

baba, note that the description of that sampler says "Capable of importing SoundFonts and AKAI S5000/6000 programs". It doesn't load sfz files at all, but SoundFonts (that is, sf2).

baba, read this:(and it converts wav to sfz)
http://www.plogue.com/products/sforzando/
think we should have a little sfz thread and find out what it's
all really about (since we're supposed to know) and what
the benefits are - love the way it says, no more proprietary
formats, and here's another one. so...import your sf2, turn it
into a sfz, and now that data takes up twice the space on your
drive it used to, yeah?

I think I am confused 0.o
are there 2 diffrent formats? SFZ and SF2?
is it possible to convert wav to sf2? and if so how can i do it?
which format is more common SFZ or SF2?
for example this one is it SFZ or SF2?
http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?pl ... er&id=1243
also when sampler says its plays sound fonts it means it plays SF2 or SFZ?

Guys, SFZ and sf2 are two completely different formats....
a .SFZ file is simply a text file that holds information about a .wav file. That is why sfz and wav files are always packaged together.
a .sf2 file is a soundfont file. Used in instruments such as those from HG Fortune, the AlgoMusic M42 and others. It is a container for the .wav file and other information.
You can convert freely between SFZ and sf2 using, for instance ESC. (do a search for it)

yup, we know about soundfonts
their relationship, if any, to *.sfz ..unclear on that. i assumed
it was an extended parameter thing but maybe it's a lot simpler,
if you say it is only a wav with a txt file defining it.
info:
http://sfzformat.com/
personally, what i like -illogically- about soundfonts is that they
are self-contained, not needing any supporting files. but for a
long time you needed CreativeLabs Vienna and a soundblaster
to edit or make them. thankfully that changed, with lots of
ways of creating sf2 now.
not sure i have time to take on another format but SFZdesigner
looks like it's the way to go to make complex sfz instruments.
ah yeah: do you get presets with sfz? or is it just the one instrument?

Off-topic guys, this not the place for discussing what is sfz, how to make one and so on.
Mztk, you're actively around since more than a decade, you should know better than this baba anubis and redirect him somewhere else to discuss that instead of doing it here at such length, don't you think?
