Five instances of Kaleidoscope (2 layered drones/3 swarms) using presets from the upcoming set no 19, processing modulated pink noise, ocean waves and a field recording from a Tokyo supermarket - slightly ominous...

So today I recorded my HAPI (Hand Activated percussion Instrument, a small Hang so to speak) for creating some more rhythmical KS presets for the next set, in this video I'm stepping through some of them, different time signature - the HAPI is playing in 9 (3x3) the KS presets switch from 13/8 to 12/8 to 9/8, sometimes I switch to double time in the video - great fun that is...the delay FX used is MFM2 with one of my presets from Beat Twista, the reverb used is Aether.

Here come the release notes for set 19:

Kaleidoscope subscriptions set no. 19, uploaded on January 11th - 2017 containing:
  • 82 Presets
    30 images
    6 tuning files
    7 waveforms
    1 input sample (HAPI loop)
Quoting myself from the release notes:
From rhythmical patterns in straight and odd time signature (9/12/13) to microtonal fractals, from pulsating pads and drones to ethereal new-age textures to alien sound effects, set no. 19 provides you with an ambiguous palette of fresh Kaleidoscope sounds.

Some diatonic tuning files, some dissonant and one extracted front indigenous flute phrase, images were created with a combination of ArtMatic, Fractal Designer, Photoshop and Pages (tables) and some images I got from the NASA page - image of the day - which is a great resource for cosmic images. Waveforms for this set were created in Serum’s partial editor, they are less complex, more consonant this time and work especially well for creating low and deep drone sounds.

Some of the rhythmical patterns have lower feedback values and are designed for more percussive input material (like the HAPI loop in 9/8 90BPM contained in set 19), other ones have higher feedback levels, are more melodic and work better with sustained input sounds and noise.

Enjoy the sounds!
The subscription library currently contains: 1327 presets - 700 images - 95 tuning files - 113 waveforms.

Stay tuned.

Two instances of Kaleidoscope using two presets from the upcoming subscription set, some external FX was used, input sources were two modulated noise sources and some speech.

As there is a little lag in producing this set, I extended all subscriptions by one month.

Improvising with a piano sound straight into Kaleidoscope (100% wet) using a preset from the upcoming set set no. 20, some B2 reverb used post Kaleidoscope.

Two instances of Kaleidoscope processing the same audio source, a long field recording of a stormy night in the city, playing with an offset between the two instances of KS, using two presets from the upcoming set- set no. 20. Some external FX for spatial effects.

Two rhythmical/tempo-synced Kaleidoscope patches from the upcoming set in action, tweaking root note changes on the fly, audio inputs are 2 different kind of noises, one with a bit tempo-synced amplitude modulation (ramp down).

Three instances of Kaleidoscope in an experimental ambient track using three presets from the upcoming set no. 20, the tuning file used in these patches was extracted from male overtone singing (which has some interesting microtonal deviations embedded), two external noise sources were used for the audio input.

I've been experimenting with Set 20, so here is an example track. I used 2 instances of Kaleidoscope fed with Patchpool Iris patches as well as some lovely sounds from Chromaphone the Resonata soundest. A Falcon sound thrown in from the set Acoustic E-bow. Additional sound from AAS Ultra Analog Abstractions sound set this not patchpool.

waves break, but somehow it all makes sense.

So here is another piece using the same sound sources except I've replaced the Ultra Analog with Xfer Serum using a Free Style library sound.

A new track using 4 instances of Kaleidoscope set 20 patches fed by 4 instances of iZotope Iris using sounds from the Iris subscription. I'm experiencing som issues, and have tracked the problem down to one preset, seems whatever I've done to tweak it settings it causes som kind of internal clipping..

Another track using 4 instances of Kaleidoscope playing patches from set 20, these are driven by 4 instances of iZotope Iris using sounds from the Subscription series. I've used Numerology Pro 4 to arrange and mix this rather minimalist moody track.
