It was definitely the Oberheim DMX on Blue Monday. NO liked it because you could program the drums real time, and then punch in the accents afterwards. They were using that to fake echo on the BD and toms, only they forgot the BD... check the toms though.

I was expecting an Animotion-style male/female duet somewhere in there. Not sure if you can sing, but even then you still would have had to affect a British Accent.

I'm trying to convince my wife to play the guitars... We already found a drum-player, its a girl she knows, but loves 80's music. We could plug an Alesis-DM into the kit to get more electronic style. Now I'm nagging an old-friend to be the vocalist, but he never sang on his whole life. 
I know, I'm crazy...
One thing I wonder, while listening to Blue-Monday. Why the bass+drums sound so "wide" compared to doing the same on Orion with the same samples? Chorus? Stereo-Enhancer? Analog Tape effect?
Just need to rent a place to play now...

I think I Blue Monday, the snare went through a subtle phaser? And no doubt Early Reflections on a SPX-90 et al. Plus, keep in mind the sampling technology was very 'low'. So maybe if the samples were put through a SR-202 at 8 bit, and pump the filters up - it might give you that pseudo 'BIGNESS' as well?
