I want to use my Mac Mini DisplayPort jack as a spare Usb A jack.
So I was going to get a miniDP male to usb c and a c female to B male
that goes into a midi keyboard...most keyboards use the B style in...
will this work correctly???The 2.0 data requirements for most midi keyboards is not much... I use the miniDP port for internet connection and it works fine for that..... its a 2017 MacBook Air with
thunderbolt2(miniDP ). what do you know??

Pedantic mode on: your 2017 MacBookAir has a Thunderbolt (2) port. It can function just like a MiniDisplayPort, but can do more. And that is good news. But these little technicalities can make or break it.

If you get a proper adapter (I'd recommend from an Apple reseller) to USB, then I don't see why it won't work. This is why devices are "usb class compliant".

Somewhat redundant to what Bert said, but
No, you do not want to confuse a display port with the [USB or T'bolt] port(s) made for the more general (ahem: Universal) usage.
If you need USB A, get a USB C to A adapter or hub. I'm using a powered hub with both types coming into one of my USB C (MacBook model 10,1) ports. I do not recommend non-powered hubs, my experience was never good.
