TW12: Sometimes a clip won't stretch, with Elastique Pro selected. Why?

Hi all. I sometimes find that an audio clip refuses to stretch, with Elastique Pro selected. I'm attempting to stretch in the usual way (pressing Alt, and trying to drag the trim button at the far right or far left of a clip's top bar). Any suggestions please?

Make sure that you don't have Auto-Tempo enabled in the properties panel.
