What's been tending to happen is that bigger companies (e.g. Thomann - https://www.thomann.de/blog/en/an-updat ... customers/) have decided to handle it and include the duties etc as part of the upfront price.

You lose a lot of output with a dummy coil. Good to use an active preamp or boost pedal if you go that route.and probably add a dummy coil and another pup in the middle.
