HZ asked SA to create this. He liked the original but wanted extras. Nothing to do with money. I very much doubt HZ gets a penny from it. He does however get an instrument he can use in all his soundtracks.
Of course no money changed hands, Hz never made a penny, he doesn't need it right?
Is your assertion factual though because judging by the price I'd say it has all the hallmarks of a business agreement, not just a casual exchange as you suggest.

Either way it is a superb instrument born from a unique collaboration.
If HZ commissioned SA to build it, for him, I would expect HZ to pay them. A deal could be made tho, whereby all fees are waivered in return for sales accumulated by using the HZ name.

HZ did no work on it. SA coded it, KS made the presets.

Does that somehow invalidate the ask?

zvenx wrote: Mon May 13, 2024 3:11 am I don't understand why someone would expect to get Legend after buying Legend HZ.
Why would you even need Legend? Legend HZ does all Legend can do and much more.

And to the person wanting it at half price, would you also consider they should keep the upgrade price the same? Thus someone can in essence buy The Legend + upgrade to Legend HZ, cheaper than Just buying Legend HZ outright? ($50+79 vs $179)

You are making the assumption here that everyone already owns either one.. what If someone doesn't want the complexer Legend HZ but the simpler, and yes, cheaper original Legend?

Simply asking a simple question as to why they decided tot take that option off the table..
It's cheaper to maintain one product. Legend has been around for years, now it's been upgraded to V2.

Can you still buy V1 of any vst that has been upgraded to the next version?

Post

The presets are credited to KS and HZ.

I have no idea if money exchanged hands, however if Hans Zimmer put his brand on a synth that cost $29.99, that may be viewed as cheapening his brand...
Not saying anyone suggests it should cost $29.99 (though this is kvr, you never know)... but Ferrari doesn't put their name on a $40,000 car...

One can of course ask...but for me this comes over as being entitled.
I though you got The Legend with the HZ version but it seems that's not the case. I don't understand why, because HZ is an augmented version of The Legend that can instantiate all of The Legends presets. How could I possibly be expected to pay another wad of cash for a lesser version of what I already bought?

My Left speaker can't handle the Low End. :borg: :D

EDIT: Speaker is OK, some objects in the regal have been clattering.

Maybe keep the original in place and raise its price to $119. OR, keep it at $99 and increase the upgrade price to $99. $99 with $79 upgrade is bad because it would hurt sales of the HZ.

A side benefit of doing this is the original could be put on sale every so often without devaluing the HZ.

Demo is UP ;)

It's gone, they won't change their minds.

It's V2 or nothing.

Maybe they should now give away V1 for free...

When you start your post with an IF and end it with Speculation I am not convinced.😁

If you do the same thing with two instances of The Legend (not HZ), does it null?
It pretty much does if you set the oscillators to the same phase value and remove drift

edit: I saw that was already answered
I still have not tried HZ, and checked with the old Legend with no drifrt and same osc phase.

The LFO section is interesting. I don't think there is a way to have free running lfo's but one can use the MSEG in LOOP mode.
The osc are free running by default, so presumably when they are used as lfo, they are too.
Kind of hard to tell since the lfo rate is so fast even at the lowest rate. Will have to look at the manual.
