By the way: just had a great idea:
I'll give the plugin the option to send midi directly to the virtual midi cable so you don't need to run it standalone afterall, even in Ableton Live / Traction. Next version will load with your projects automatically, and still work as a global midi device.

I'm using it with savihost/midiYoke/Live 5.03. I'm having trouble reproducing it myself. Just random crashes. I'll see what i can do. Would it help with the crashlog windows makes.?

Don't know if anybody else would be interested in this but... a while ago I looked for something similar that would emulate a pitch bend comtroller and found a lot of discussion but nobody actually doing it (this was a few months back however). Don't know if it would be even be feasable... you'd have to know when someone took their finger off the pad to "snap back" to 64. If so though it might be a good addition to what already sounds like a really cool app....

that's a good idea - the synaptics driver does notify when the finger is lifted, so it's not difficult to do.

I'm waiting for some info about the drivers - Synaptics has written excellent documentation, and even provide a software developer kit to make it easy for developers. Alps don't seem to have anything like that. I tried contacting alps several times to no avail, perhaps Toshiba would be more helpful. Are you sure all (recent) toshiba laptops use alps?foxal wrote:Whats about support for the Alps Electric touchpads (all toshiba laptops)?

Anything out there other then savihost? ...it crashes my system after closing it! I dont think its a touch2midi issue though! It seems to do the same with other plugs.
BTW Alps support would be great (for my dell inspiron 6000), as would a Vst version that worked in LIVE (that would sort out my savihost problem)... Oh and great work mate!

Awwww Damnit. I just realized I have an Alps touchpad. Dumb 'ol Dell. Now I guess I have to rescind my suggestion least other people get it and I don't. Just kidding of course. Maybe the Alps people will come through with something eventually...ohm wrote:that's a good idea - the synaptics driver does notify when the finger is lifted, so it's not difficult to do.

By the way people - there is another way to use T2M within Live. I am using T2M to control the excellent Lucifer2 effect.
I use the VST effect version of energyXT as a host-within-a-host, so I insert energyXTe into a track in Live. Then, within energyXT you insert T2M and hook it up (by connecting the MIDI out of T2M to the MIDI in of your VST effect) to whatever VST effect you want it to control (in my case Lucifer2). Then bob's your uncle, a real MIDI controller on your lappie. Its great. Good work.

Again, this is sweet. Allowing it to send MIDI to a port as well is even better and allows more routing possibilities.
This plugin has rekindled y interest with using my laptop as a music machine - especially with it driving Lucifer 2 (thanks prupert).
While wer'e at it: a question/ feature request. Is there a way to inverse/ change the range of CCs sent by the plugin? If not, this is an official FR. I read that you are planning to implement something similar in Liveslice, hopefully that will make it easier.
Thank you again for this useful tool.

Regarding changing CC range this is done much better in the midi receiver. This is because of the limited value range when using 7bit midi. If touchpad 2 midi is limited to send say 52-76 this would give a resolution of 24. If the range is limited in the other end, the full 127 value resolution canbe used. I will add an invert switch - that's pretty convenient to have I agree.
regarding LiveSlice, the CC range controls is in fact the FR I'm working on at the moment THere'll be a LiveSlice update pretty soon with undo and keyboard shortcuts and other goodies.

Thank you for the reply. CC invert is what I really need, so it would be fine.ohm wrote:Regarding changing CC range this is done much better in the midi receiver. Damn, with this support I have yet one more reason to get LiveSlice.
Must resist...
