Hurricane Katrina has ravished New Orleans and the gulf coast in general. Lets do something to help. It's happened before with the Tsunami Relief efforts here at KvR, so it can happen again in the midst of such a massive natural disaster.

A moog-mix/tribute CD has already been suggested and I think this is a good start. This thread is for suggesting ideas and formulating a plan. Also, if you will please tell what you are willing to bring to the table (songs, admin work, etc.).

Let's make it happen! Smile

Yer a gem mate! Smile

I reckon we can surely get enough musicians to contribute whatever best piece they'd like to compose for it.

Let's do it -- come one come all. I'll even be happy to do the final mastering for whomever. Wink

I'm in. I can write, compose, sing, play, or mix for whomever needs it. I may put my own peice together if a theme is chosen. Many of those who left the city have came here to Nashville, where tourist attractions have opened up for free to them. The local high schools and colleges have offered to enroll whatever students who want to come. And even the managers at the place I wait tables part time(Cracker Barrel) have given gift baskets to those who eat at our store. So there's so much going on, and I'd like to do my part.

Well done then koolkeys! Smile

So what theme should we have? Or should we have one? Perhaps something a bit sensitive to the disaster -- maybe words & music of hope or strength?

What say?

Since there are a wide variety of genres here, I say have some variety. I'm all acoustic, with a synth here and there. But very personal music. I'll start work right away.

I'm sure when morning comes here in the states that more people will jump on board. We'll give it maybe two or three days to try for a count of who wants to do what. Let's just keep the thread going. Anyone want to design a signature graphic to promote it?

I am sure there's someone here into graphic design with a particular KVR bent. What about UTM?

He could do a great graphic and also a great mashup! Wink

whoever wants to take on the organisation of this (im back to school next week and just wont have the time) NEEDS to speak to glooper and get feedback and/ or advice from him about organising the tsunami CD we did earlier in the year ...

... having said that ... im in for a track or a collab and maybe some graphics work / photography if needed (i did all the graphics for the last one) ...

... good luck

Can offer mastering and a track, no distro, though.
Might be wise to target a broader audience than a specifc moog tribute does. Would also speed up the process of getting the actual music done. Not everyone has various moog emulations lying around. Thats my 2¢ on the matter anyhow.

best

This is great!
Yes, please post tracks in this thread for the "Katrina Virtual Relief" CD. Very Happy
I will contact Glooper about logistics and we'll get the ball rolling. (I'm assuming the role of management here, unless someone more fit comes along and has the time commitment)

Koolkeys, I've seen the same here. Many people have come here from New Orleans and the hospitality here has shocked me! People are going shopping with these people and buying them food, clothing, and stay. I wish I could, but money is extremely tight for me, which is why I want to help in other ways. The public/citizen response is much more profound than the federal aid being given.
Great start so far, can't wait to see what will happen in a few days time.

Will this be side by side with the Moog September Theme aid thing? Is there a market for more than one KvR relief CD?
My Moog song isn't ready yet, but when it is it's free for any and all use that helps the people in need in the south. Of course!

I'm in if wanted, but you know my stuff's gonna be dark. I could use the catharsis anyways..I share a bond with these people as an Andrew veteran. I'm right next to these people and many displaced citizens are staying in my city.
