The Ancients Part 3
Some more pretentious Prog Rock From Seph. After the very favourable reception of my part 1 and 2, I continued with the 3rd part in the Saga.
Part 3 contains at least a bit from every member of my guitar family, Garritan's Personal Orchestra, a bit of Kong Audio Chinee winds, and some more Wusik.
Hope you enjoy.
(Also some thanks for some inspiration I got from Andy Fairweather-Low's guitar works on Roger Waters's Dunroamin, duncarin, dunlivin)

PS. Just in case anybody cares to know: The bass parts and drums were programmed using BIAB and rendered with Dimention Pro and DR008 resectively.

Weird & interesting that you used BIAB.
I haven't seen it since a rather primitive version.
I'm glad to get Part 3 to add to my collection, Sepheritoh.

Thanks. Glad you enjoy.
I got the BIAB collection for 2005, so it's a year old. Mainly got it because my bass programming skills sucks. For drums I used to use mainly Slicy Drummer, but lately now use BIAB more and more.

Beautiful again! A lot of fine guitar-work and a good orchestral arrangement.
The bass in the second part is a bit static....a midi-velocity plug could help. The acoustic-guitar chords in the first part are sometimes played too exactly to the beat: play a bit worse, please
.
The whole suite has a stunning quality in playing arranging and composing!
Congrats!

I'm really liking this. The only thing I would suggest is pushing the guitars back into the mix. The orchestral instruments sound cohesive... like they are coming from the same space, while the guitar sounds as if it is coming from a completely different acoustical space. (sorry if that doesn't make sense... I don't know of a better way to explain)
...or maybe it's just my ears...
Good stuff tho.

If you solo an instrument in the mix and it sounds good... the mix is bad. :}

I'm always up for a bit of prog and good prog has to be pretentious imo.
This is well done and well arranged and composed. I have to agree about the guitars sounding a bit loud and not integrated into the mix as well as they could be. Thats just a few tweaks with the reverb and mix though. A vocal would sound prety good with it i think. Nice one.

Thanks everyone for listening and commenting.
Mello thanks for your opinion. I will take it in mind. The accoustic guitar chords are 2 different guitars panned hard left and right. Next time I'll try to be a bit more out of time
. Thanks for the kind words.
Luckysp glad you enjoyed it. I understand exactly what you mean. I did not attempt to get the guitars and orchestra mix to sound realistic, but rather spacious, but I do take note that I might have overdone it in the mix.
blipp thanks. I will look at the mix a bit more carefull, especially on the guitars.
Thank you everybody for the kind comments and also thanks to everybody else who listened.
