Surprisingly, I got the new issue of Computer Music in the mail today (in the US) -- I wasn't expecting it for several more days. Anyway, ZebraCM looks pretty damn cool. The mag features a somewhat helpful 3 page tutorial as well. I've been wondering if it made sense to use ZCM when I already own Z2, but it would seem that there is -- it's a different animal. Er, so to speak.... (EDIT: I should be more specific. I'm sure that Z2 can do everything CM can do and and then some, but as a visual person CM's layout and interface suggests different ideas to me.)
According to the magazine, this IS part of the "CM Studio", so I expect it will be distributed with every issue going forward.

I'm gonna pick up the magazine anyway. For me I think that it would be nice for when I know I'm going to be doing a simple sound. It would change up the environment a bit too. I'll still use my Zebra 2 more often, but it doesn't hurt to have an alternative version.

Do you mind telling where did you get it from?tboulette wrote:Surprisingly, I got the new issue of Computer Music in the mail today (in the US) -- I wasn't expecting it for several more days. As I mentioned, I'm in the US -- but I'm also a subscriber, so I get it roughly the same time in goes on sale in the UK (usually a couple of days later). I'm not sure when it's generally available outside the UK, except that in the US, Barnes & Noble and Borders bookstores carry it. Still, however, it doesn't hit US newstands until about a month later....Cygnus X-1 wrote:Do you mind telling where did you get it from?tboulette wrote:Surprisingly, I got the new issue of Computer Music in the mail today (in the US) -- I wasn't expecting it for several more days. Yeah, they're probably just getting the last issue....

I'm a US subscriber too, but I don't think that the lag is that long. The CUBASE 4 special that just came out was on newstands the same day they said it would be. On the other hand, I don't know if that's the same day it was on sale in the UK.
Regardless, it's been 2 days since Thoulette said he got his subscription issue, and I'm still waiting for mine. Your milage may vary...

Of course, I can only share my experience -- but it routinely takes 4 weeks from when CM announces a new issue for it to appear at my local Borders. As you say, YMMV.BERFAB wrote:I'm a US subscriber too, but I don't think that the lag is that long. The CUBASE 4 special that just came out was on newstands the same day they said it would be.
