i've downloaded recent version of luna and discovered some
changes since early versions. modular plugin window is a killer!
great idea JO! i already would like to make some music with luna,
but it still miss some features that makes me stick with other apps.
1. lack of automation curves
it's very difficult now to make some simple volume
or pan changes to audio parts. opening another
sequence for that would make terrible mess in
the arrange window.
2. no essential tools in audio lab
just fade in, fade out and reverse - that's all we need.
opening external editor to make it would be very
time consuming and may put many people off using
luna. that's very frequent action on audio tracks in every
sequencer. deeper editing can go from externals.
3. crossfade for audio parts
another essential feature!
AND
no muzynth = no fun
muzynth was a heart of muzys and main reason that
distinguished this application from every other sequencer.
i miss it so much...
ALSO
why text fonts in every menu window are "bold"?
i can't get it... it takes more space and looks really
clumsy. in general resolution of gui seems to
be very small and because of that everything seems to
be so big. hope you get my point...
all best,

I totally agree with you on Muzynth, not so sure about the automation functionality, I always thought it was the most precise around.

I think Trapaki was referring to automation curves integrated directly into the track, a la Tracktion, ACID, undoubtedly a host of others, versus the LUNA approach where automation is handled through separate parts whose targets are controls instead of audio-generating synths. I guess you can stack both onto one track, but it would quickly become hard to find / select / edit parts if they're layered like that. OTOH, there are also some benefit to the separate automation parts, like the ability to copy & paste 'em around. Maybe what LUNA needs is an effective way to selectively control the visibility of automation parts that occupy the same tracks as the sequence parts they're partnered with?

LUNA needs attention on many fields (in no specific order): integrated synth/sampler, integrated effects, breakpoint automation in composer, stretchable audio, ...

I have to chuckle at how the mention of the muzynth causes> DiGiT < wrote:muzynth? did someone say muzynth?

Since I have only ever played with Computer Muzys, I just don't know from the muzynth, though I've heard strong words spoken about its greatness. But, Jo's strongly hinted that we'll see some sort of descendant of the muzynth someday in LUNA, so I bide my time and wait.

Yes, LUNA will get an integrated synth/sampler.
And that's high priority on the WhishList.
For technical reasons, breakpoint automation will come first though.
Already working on that one

Not sure WHY it's such a fetish but I definitely have it
Muzynth rocked from the 0.9 days when it was just a little wav loading tool and not even called Muzynth. Made being creative a breeze.

i guess it's a relatively little thing in the big picture but it puzzles me too... I'm really growing to like Luna but, I guess it's a personal aesthetic thing, it just looks... amateurish imho.Trapaki wrote: why text fonts in every menu window are "bold"?

In fact they'r not bold, but rather large, and the size grows in every direction, so a bigger size is also fatter => seems bold.why text fonts in every menu window are "bold"?

Thanks for feeding this back.
I took note, and will think about it.
Cheers!

About the fat menu font -> see my answer above.
Do other users also think the menu font is too big / fat?

I'd agree that the menus could have a sleeker look; it would give the program a slightly more elegant visual style.muzycian wrote:Do other users also think the menu font is too big / fat?
So I think that's a "yes".
Edit: For me, even more than the menus it's when I get into a file save / open dialog that my reaction is "whoa, that typeface is awfully chunky."

would be better if audio files would not be changed permanently,
Do you think it's ok that the audio lab does destructive edits?
but just for those small edits it should be ok. i think so...
exactly! recording few takes and combining best ones together.3. crossfade for audio parts
another essential feature!
For vocals and recorded instruments etc... i assume?
crossfade would help much here just as fade in and out (again)
for audio tracks in arrange window.
in audio lab i prepare and edit samples - if there is a click at the
begining or rapid start/end i can use fade tool. in arrange window
i use fades according to my composition, so one sample
can have different fades in same project. what i mean is fades should
work separatelty to the one in audio lab and it makes sense to have
both - in audio lab and in arrange window.
it's great, really looking forward musynth!

i see... think it would be better to keep the same size like in muzys.
In fact they'r not bold, but rather large, and the size grows in every direction, so a bigger size is also fatter => seems bold.
no big menus and gigant fonts, smaller things really looks better,
of course if there are visible enough
also i've been thinking about need of sample pool.
importing samples and distributing it to tracks or
musynth with drag and drop. i don't know like rest of you
but i often try samples one after another until i find something
that fits... at the moment there is just to much clicking for
that. sample pool woud be very handy here! let me know
what you think.
