Dear U-he,

I have downloaded the zebra2 demo from http://www.zebrasynth.com/ as you suggested, and I have been testing it out, and I am loving it more and more :)

Ok I have 3 questions for you, I hope you can anwser them all.

1.
Through my testing, I couldnt help notice that it acts a little wierd under FL Studio 7.

Ok, so here is the problem, ill try to be as clear as possible so that you can test it at home as well.
I wanted to make a simple ambulance siren sound, you know where you modulate the volume and pitch of a simple osc with an lfo.
So as the synth is playing in pattern more I see that the lfo resets itself after the first repeat, and only then it plays the lfo fully. And this happens in song mode too. Once the loop start again, it resets and then it works. The effects also get cut off on the first repeat and only then they will have an audible delay on the rest of the repeats. Why is that? IS it a bug in Fl Studio?

I have attached a screenshot (hope it shows) to show you what i mean: Image

I have added a wave display too to show you visually what happends.

2.
the secind question is, is it somehow possible to have a pingpong delay? I have a delay of 1/4 on the right panned full right, and 1/4 on the left panned full left, and when playing a short note, i hear a mono delay, that is I am guessing since they are at the same speed they add together and the pan effect is gone. Is it possible to have a delay of 1/4 but first on the right speaker, then on the left, then on the right and so on...

3.
And the third, is it possible to configure zebra somehow to start in synthesis mode?

thank you for your time and I hope that you will anwser all of them.
Bye!

Oooph, ok.

1. For various reasons I went with a pardigm for LFOs that does not "hard-sync" them to the host. Instead, you can choose a number of bars after which the LFO will "recalibrate" or re-trigger itself, if desired. This is the only viable way to have syncing LFOs *and* Rate Modulation. As this has been reported problematic every now and then, I am going to introduce a manual trigger option, i.e. a MidiCC or some other sample-accurate event that makes the LFOs of your choice reset at any time desired.

It's not a bug in FL. It's feature that is a bit complicated in all things u-he, but it's doable.

2. I have actually planned a tutorial for ping pong delays. "Real" Ping Pong is a bit less obviuous than it seems. Normally you'd take a mono input and delay it i.e. a dotted 8th on the left and then a 16th to the right. The signal is only fed into one delay, and then shuffled around by feedback. Zebra's delay always operates stereo, but there's a trick to get it done - using the Dub Delay setting:

This is pretty ping pong, but you can also use Feedback instead of Crossover Feedback ("X-back"), which is a bit more boring but also a bit closer to original mono->stereo Ping Pong.

3. Not yet, but this feature part of the planned overall Improvements

Cheers,

;) Urs

Thank you Urs, for your quick reply and your service.

Ok, the lfo resetting makes sense, but how come the effects get reset too? To test this please have a full wet reverb, and zero dry signal, and when in pattern mode you can hear that the reverb tail gets cutoff for the first repeat, and only then it will reverbenate the looped melody. This happens with delay too. Any idea?

Bye

Oh...

Due to some other host I had some sort of auto-reset if a host won't fully comply to VST specs for timing info... which obviously backfires in the latest FL7. I have decided to take this out and only reset according to VST specs...

I think it's in the Improvements thread, but don't ask... it's on the list...
