Totalistic Polyrhythmic Dance Party

This is probably a failure.

The goal was to have music with normal polyrhythms between the various parts (e.g. the drums are in 4/4, the bass part is in 13/4, the lead parts are in 7/4, etc.) with all kinds of automation activity (e.g. panning, filter cutoffs, etc) articulating polyrhythms as well.

Unfortunately, the whole proved to be a monster that I couldn't control. the automated filter activity in particular made mixing a real pain. So after too many hours spent trying to make it do what I wanted it to do, I gave up. But the concept may have interest for a few, so.......

It is probably too long as well, but polyrhythmic cycles can be that way.....

I wonder if it would work if the lead had a slightly more complex structure (with a couple of pauses in its sound - a break) - I think you are right in that it does not work, as it is atm.

Mix seems ok.

Must say, I've found doing polyrhythm stuff in Podium easier than any other host I've tried, but that could just be me.

the epianos take me back to 'The Lamb Lies Down..'

works quite well, but could perhaps do with either a chord change or modulation, just to make some movement. you could even get a slower moving part to change ahead of one of the faster moving parts cycle to create tension that is then relieved when the cycle is completed..

Like I said, sort of an experiment that didn't quite work. What bothered me the most was how the polyrhythmic filter sweeps were totally lost. Instead of sounding like filter sweeps they just sounded like the underlying parts were getting louder and quieter in a random fashion. Sadly, much of the intended interest was in them.

But failed experiments are good for learning. I normally don't post them, but I thought that this one made a sort of curio.

And hell, take some hallucinogens and grab a couple of glowsticks and all thats left is the kick drum anyway, so......

This sounds great and powerful with two flaws: the snare is annoying after a while (maybe better in 3/4 with some changes) and it's about a minute too long. The polyrhythmics' approach fits well. I like the sequenced piano-like sound a lot.
