Thought some folk here might be interested to hear how something like what I do might be translated to a live setting without a laptop. I played live last night in Toronto, here is the set recorded from my mixer to my portable (sorry for the clipping in a few spots, I had my phones level a little higher than expected):

The file is 31MB, 20 minutes long.

The set is all improvised mixing/playing of a bunch short, prepared samples, in practice it's a bit like a DJ set (two samplers, two effects boxes, a mixer). I've posted a little more info on my blog:

As I've said elsewhere, this is a great track, especially for being live.....some of these guys should give it a listen

Seriously great stuff here, I never would've guessed it was live and sans-laptop.

As I was saying to Kate last night, going in without a laptop is good since it keeps me moving and keeps things active.

It's bad because sometimes I forget what I was planning to do next, and there's no sequence/visual feedback to fall back on.

My parents still have that windmill too; one of the more musical windmills I've come across actually.

Thanks, Justin. There are a few errors in there that to me give it away as live, but they're probably only obvious to me. Glad you enjoyed.

a most excellent performance ...

i have always felt that the solution of space-fractional advection-dispersion equations by random walks depends on the analogy between the fADE and the forward equation for the associated Markov process ...
