I checked out the AirEQ Demo by Eiosis and it was pretty remarkable sounding. I was wondering what people in the forum think about it.

I love it for certain tasks... I like to use it to impart character in certain frequencys and helping to reinforce souce material with a week frequency range. The "air" parameter is great when placed after a reverb to make it sound even bigger and the high pass filter is well suited to remove those low resonant frequencies that build up in a reverb return.

It's not as good at being a surgical EQ. The way it cuts, especially at extreme settings, doesn't seem to be very accurate.

I love that it is not even labeled by defualt. I find myself using the "pump and pull" method from my days using console EQs.

It's a great EQ to have in the arsenal if you already have a nice transparent one and need something with a lot of character.

I've found it to be among the few very high quality eqs in my kit. It's not always perfect, and I would use it more often if the interface weren't solely a retro knob thing, but I find it can breathe life into lots of different types of material, with the low end being particularly powerful compared to other (software) eqs.

Cheers.

Incredible sound for its cpu hit (which is tiny), I'm still on an old AMD dual core so its just what I need as a per-track eq.

Don't like the air knob that much, but that part aside it really is a very good airy eq for lifting sounds up and out in a mix. Perfect for wideband stuff, for surgical stuff others are better suited.

One of my favourite eqs for sure and well worth the money.

So far every plug they've made has been stellar. Their vocoder is one of a kind, can't think of any other software vocoder that comes close and the new de-esser has some really creative control.

yes, i use it, too ... it's one of the best (if not the best) payware eq's out there ... the lowcut is simply incredible ... this eq simply _supports_ you on mixing ... i know, this sounds stupid, but for the lack of a better term that's the only way i can say it ... it's awesome how much you can boost until you activeley notice it ... i often find mysel eqing with air eq, then bypassing it, and think: "wow, this can't be the source signal!"
the thing is, to me a good eq leaves you with the impression that you simply didn't alter the signal ... you hear it equed and you think it always _was_ like that, as it simply fits to your ear ... until you bypass air eq ... Smile
now, _if_ there is a downside at all, then it's the fact that especially the bells have their very unique character, but then it's simply a matter of taste if you like that or not ...
also, be careful, as arksun already states:
you can easily overdose the air band, so be veeery gentle with it, as it can dominate your mix heavily ...

in the end however, one thing has to be said:
1. if one can't really mix, he won't reach his goal with anything ...
2. there are some signals that just can't be "fixed" ...
3. a good arrangement in conjuction with carefully choosen sounds/top notch recordings is half of the mix/mastering ...

my 2000 usd ...
