Thought I'd rethink/redo this one, after the couple of less-than-flattering comments I received the first time around.

Hopefully this version is a bit better: Aantara (attempt 2)

Comments/critiques on the mix are welcomed (and will be useful for attempt 3) :hihi:

VEEERY Pretty.

I like this tune, a lot.

The first lead (Piano sounding synth) is a little harsh. I thought the drums came in a little low, right at the very beginning, but that could be my preference for artistic expression projected onto your mix. After they came in, the mix had a blissfully balanced feel.

Good job.

Looking forward to #3!

Thanks for the quick reply EDZ. I will soften the volume of the plucked-lead synth (I was also thinking it might be a bit loud) :)

Cheers.

Ok, I really enjoyed this! Lots of great elements and packed with melodic potential, nice stereo spread as well. I didn't know you were a guitar player - well done!

The fact that this song really speaks to me makes me hear some possibilities... so, on my wish list:

1. I think the arrangement could be tightened up. Seems it almost has too many movements and could be cut down a bit.

2. I think you missed the potential to have a wicked drop after either the breakdown or the buildup after the breakdown... my skin was tingling in anticipation of a bass slide and then a crashing beat drop with a screaming solo or perhaps some high strings with a melody that hasn't been exposed previously. Just imho - this may not fit your artistic vision at all. :)

In any event, congrats, this is a great track!

heh... yeah, my musical endeavour first started with the guitar. I'd hate to admit how many years ago that was... I do believe I should be a much better player by now. (it's all these damn midi toys that distract me from my roots)

Admittedly, I had sooo many ideas for this track, that the arrangement does get a bit scattered. The trouble with working on something for too long, is that I always find more that just has to find its way into the piece somehow.

I'd have loved a really epic drop too, but feel that I am constrained by a)cpu resources, b) the inability to play an epic sounding solo. :hihi: However, I can make the breakdown before the 2nd main melody a bit more stated. I'll try that.

Anyway, I'm glad for your feedback.
