Anyone got one of these? I really want one all of a sudden ..... Actually I've wanted one for some time but I ended up buying a Spectral Audio Neptune 2 analogue rack synth. Great synth ..... but I still find myself wanting a Little Phatty
Someone please talk me out of it! Why should I NOT buy a Moog Little Phatty (apart from the fact that I can't afford one right now!)

It's a weird intangible... A lot of other synths do more, have more polyphony, have more features, but when I play the Little Phatty. I want one! I have to say, it does have a really nice keyboard action... and many people comment it makes a good small controller. It's kind of retro looking too, sort of looks like a mad scientist device. Er, I can't talk you out of it.
Buy it...

Yeah, it's pretty much impossible for me to tell you not to buy a Little Phatty. I could only ever say buy one. I've tried both the Phatty and Voyager synths and they each say "Buy me" very convincingly. All I can say to you is buy. Sorry.

Top ten reasons not to buy a Little PhattyDogboy73 wrote: Someone please talk me out of it!
[10] It doesn't do FM
[9] Gasoline will soon be $5/gallon in the US
[8] It looks just like a Voyager, only smaller
[7] It doesn't have FireWire or USB
[6] Monophonic is so old-skool
[5] They're made by a dead guy
[4] Consider the keys-dollar ratio
[3] The name reminds me of a joint
[2] It doesn't sound like a 303
[1] It doesn't sound like a virus
(I'm sure there's better reasons than this, but it was the end of the day)

How's that working out for you? It looked nice from the review in FM a few months back. Great price too.Dogboy73 wrote:Anyone got one of these? I really want one all of a sudden ..... Actually I've wanted one for some time but I ended up buying a Spectral Audio Neptune 2 analogue rack synth.

If you must have real analog, but also want flexibility, get a DSI Prophet '08 instead. If you must have the Moog sound and are ok with mono, get a Little Phatty.Dogboy73 wrote:Someone please talk me out of it! Why should I NOT buy a Moog Little Phatty
My 2 scents.

I had a Little Phatty for about four months.
I have owned a lot of Moog synths with that special "Moog Sound". The Little Phatty was not one of them.

No.... do you reckon it will have those high-falutin' plastic jacks that so much of the other Moog stuff has these days?Ubiety wrote:Yeah, but have you owned a Moog Guitar?Scot Solida wrote:I had a Little Phatty for about four months.

Some more reasons not to buy the Little Phatty:
1) Synthesizers.com entry system ($120 a month * 12 = $1440)
2) DSI Evolver Keyboard ($1200)
3) DSI Prophet 08 (rack $1500 / keyboard $2000)
4) FutureRetro XS ($1300)
IMO, Any of these is a better value than the LP.
