Hi all,
I'm simply wanting to know how to export a single part from Cubase to a midi file which I can then import into Ableton live.
I've selected the 'block' in Cubase, set the range locators to surround only it, soloed the midi channel, but when going to File -> Export Midi File, it seems to include the whole arrangement??
I would have thought this would be an incredibly simple thing to do, but it is evading me at the moment. Could be from lack of sleep - but any help would be appreciated...
Cheers,
EoN

The gods of Cubase said this wasn't possible, but they were wrong. What you have to do is this.
1) [Ctrl] + [A] to select all parts.
2) Selct the mute tool from your toolbox
3) Hold down shift and mute all parts
4) Unmute the parts on the track you want to export
5) Export MIDI file

4) Unmute the parts on the track you want to export
5) Export MIDI file
Please understand that this is coming from someone who quotes Terry Pratchett - Melkor

Thanks nice tip.
To automate this process I would use a macro:
Go to Key Commands and create a New Macro: F8 -> Show Macros -> New Macro
Macro Commands(assumes you have selected the midi regions you want to export):
Edit-Invert Selection
Edit-Mute Events
File-Export Midi File
Then once you have saved
Just do Ctrl-Z to make all tracks go back to their previous muted/unmuted state.
I hope that helps somebody .
