I asked this in the Linplug section, but so far it didn't get any attention.
What I'd like to know is, if Albino 4 is on its way or not?
The way it looks now, I don't understand what would make one choose to buy Albino 3 instead of Blue, as clearly Blue and also Predator sound a fair bit better than Albino.
So if Albino 4 is coming.
Can we expect it to have undergone some serious sound improvements?

I find Albino 3 having a really nice sound, great filters and modulation options. Also loving the oscillators on that one. I see no need for a V4 yet.

Here is a quote from Linplug's Peter answering my question about plans for Octopus II :
Sorry. Actually there were a plan, however, reality hit us and we found that we got much ... much ... much delayed with SaxLab 2 and RMV which resulted in other complications, so ... Octopus II is nothing thats made right now. We had kind of start, collecting features, making a plan and preparing to code and got stuck exactly there.
Since then we not did anything on it, and next is probably Albino 4 so up to
Musikmesse 2009 we are booked.

"as clearly Blue and also Predator sound a fair bit better than Albino. "
Well I think Albino sounds nothing like either Blue or Predator, and think it sounds much better than those two. And anyway aren't you comparing different types of synthesis?
Give me Albino, any version, over Blue or Predator any day.
How can you say one thing sounds better than another when its all about personal preferences and tastes and subjectivity and use that as a reason for saying there needs to be an update?
If there was an Albino 4 and it sounded like those other two I wouldn't buy it

Like what? Albino is one of those rare synth that mix well with anything. You can turn any knobs on Albino and not only will it sound like creamy goodness, it will sit right there in your mix like it belongs, adding to the track instead of sticking out like a sore thumb like most synth do.djones wrote: Can we expect it to have undergone some serious sound improvements?
The only thing I would change to Albino is the interface colors; The white and red combination is not my favorite one by a fair shot...Although if you change that, the name Albino wouldn't make much sense anymore.
No, that wasn't me.

I love what I can do with it. It has become a tool of distinction for me. I personally would not want it if it sounded anything like Blue or Predator. For some reason, I can get sounds on it that really evoke analog "brokenness" and digital sheen at the same time... and in stereo...
And it behaves!

I would love v4. I'll tell you the truth. After using Massive, Nexus, Dune, etc ,,for so many months, I'm glad I bought it from someone in the marketplace. I don't think I'd pay #179.00 for this. I don't think the sound stands up. It was grand for its time, and - don't get me wrong - I love the sound of it. But it's definitely time for an update. I don't know if that will ever happen though. Isn't Concrete Fx doing the synth guts for Rob Papen? But, look what happened with Z3ta+....

Just exactly what would you update? Albino has it's own character and that's all we can ask.....try the Frank Genus presets for Albino and then tell me it needs an update.......

Is that the $90.00 Diversity? Nah not for a soundset. I payed $50.00 for the Korg M1...
I enjoyed your soundset, though.

To me they sound different basic and common situation for me i cannot imagine make creamy sounds with blue. etc. i dont have predator (but i have blue and albino) but tested its demo and to me all have good points. Saddly my synth needs list is so long and its complicated buy form web i maybe never get predator, djones wrote:I asked this in the Linplug section, but so far it didn't get any attention.

Yeah, it's probably a very good bank, but $90.- for a soundset... a bit over the top, isn't it? Too bad, as I would have loved to expand my use of Albino3.osiris wrote:Is that the $90.00 Diversity? Nah not for a soundset. I payed $50.00 for the Korg M1...
