Waveshell-VST 5 Problem

Does anyone have insight into this?

Having successfully used Musicians 2 with Tracktion 3 for a while now, suddenly I find that the host now locks-up if I try to load one of the Waves plug-ins. My Ilok syncronises at Ilok, all the relevant licences show up, I have the latest Ilok client & driver but Tracktion seems to be having a problem talking to the dongle.

I'd be grateful for any problem-solving tips!

There is a known issue with Vista/Windows 7 that requires a registry tweak to make the vst plugins work. Not sure if that applies in your case. Heres a link to that issue :

This forum no longer exist. However I found the soltuion for and waveshell not being able to find the plugs.

The error reads "vstscan failed to find any plugs when scanning through the Waveshell" whenn scanning 5.0 and 5.2 on my new windows 7 install in ableton 7.03.

I believe this may be a problem with other DAWs and also Vista for some people.

The solution is to go to the problem program (in this case Ableton Live 7.0.3.exe) and right click it. Go to properties. Then go to the comnpatability tab. And under "Privilege Leve" tick the box that say "Run This Program as an Administrator". Now reload and rescan the plugins folder.

Voila.

In my case there turned out to be a mismatch between Waveshell 5 and IE8. Rolling back to IE7 solved the issue on XP.

I seem to recall some other apps also having problems after people upgraded to IE8- what is it doing that affects audio apps? It's just a browser so why is it making system level changes?

On Windows XP, Internet Explorer 8 can cause problems with Waves V5.

To avoid this, we recommend updating to Waves V6, which does not conflict with IE8. Before updating to V6, please verify that your DAW is compatible by checking our Tech Specs page.

I had the same problem in vista, solved it by going into regedit and tweaking the settings. I now had the same problem in Windows 7 ultimate, the above mentioned suggestion about running the program as administrator worked for me partly, I cant use all of my plugins from waves only some. I am considering deleting IE entirely from my computer, anti-virus progams and IE is not a good combination when using your computer to create music.

I've got same problem with Reaper / Windows 10 / Waves 5.0
-now when I reinstall system on new disc.

It's strange but I got the same software before that and all worked fine.

But on new system I got error with Waves VST in Reaper:

"Could not find any Waves Plug-ins
Please reinstall Waves Plug-ins in order to use Waveshall"

I got a lot of unfinished projects with Waves 5.0 plugins in Reaper so this situation really depress me.

I searched for a solution on various forums, but nothing helped.
But in this topic I finally found! It works!
You must just right click on Reaper.exe and set "Run This Program as an Administrator".

I just want to thank for info - it helped me even though it's been 10 years. And perhaps now raising the topic will help someone else.

But Waves plugins never break because they always keep even their oldest plugins up-to-date
