Hello,
I seriously consider to buy Remote Control to improve my use of the BCR 2000 and BCF 2000 in a DAW (Cubase 4) environment, without the need to reprogram countless BCR/BCF maps.
However, I want to be able to remote control my DSI Poly Evolver rack besides other hardware synthesizers and effects, therefore Sysex support would be crucial.
Are there any plans to add sysex support to a future version of Remote Control?
Thanks in advance,
Jan.

There is no plan yet, but this is a feature that has been asked already. What kind of sysex functioanlities would you need?

Most importantly converting CC to Sysex, with the CC value a variable in the sysex message.Blue Cat Audio wrote:There is no plan yet, but this is a feature that has been asked already. What kind of sysex functioanlities would you need?
I plan to have one fixed CC layout for both BCR and BCF controllers. They'll always send CCs 1-128.
Remote Control is then supposed to convert the messages to whatever sysex the synthesizer needs.
Best would be if it would work the other way around, too. Receiving Sysex from teh synth, converting that to a CC message for the controller to update accordingly if I tweak on the synth (or playback recorded sysex).

Thanks for the suggestion. We'll give it a closer look and get back to you!

Excellent, thanks. Another good use case for the extension: I guess, if Sysex input would be possible, one could also dump a program from a HW synth and get the parameters displayed correctly in BC Remote Control and save the program as a SW preset. Wouldn't that be nice?Blue Cat Audio wrote:Thanks for the suggestion. We'll give it a closer look and get back to you!
There's one more idea I think would be a very usable addon to the concept.
Background: I played around with a setup for controlling my HW synths, where one DAW MIDI channel translated the controller's CC to Sysex, while a second channel translated the other way around, so both controller and HW synth were kept up to date.
Now, if I use BC Remote Control on both channels to do the translation for me, only the one which got the last update has its GUI up to date. So it would be excellent, if two instances sort of could be linked to report changes to each other and have both GUIs up to date. Another option to get to the same result would be to have one instance with two MIDI ins and two MIDI outs.
