Midi Merger 2 to 1 DIY Y cable ?

Hi everbody
I wanted to connect 2 midi outputs to 1 midi input, notice that I'm NOT using both inputs at the same time.
I know that a simple Y cable may cause problems when 2 midi messages are transmitted at the same time. Moreover, it can cause problems when messages from one midi input transmitted to the other.
I wanted to ask what will happen if I use diodes at both inputs so that current from one input won't get into the other ..
Will it work ?

Probably not. A lot of midi keyboards etc... send continous midi messages even if you're not touching the keys.
You could build a simple 2 in 1 out midi switch box.

Sorry guys I donno what I was drinking before i posted this ...
lemme rephrase it ..

I know that a simple Y cable may cause problems when 2 midi messages are transmitted at the same time. Moreover, problems to the equipment can occur when messages from one midi output transmitted to the other output.
I wanted to ask what will happen if I use diodes at both outputs so that current from one output won't get into the other ..
cyberheater, I checked the sent messaged with midiox, there are no continues messages coming from those two specific devices ..
the simple switch is a good idea, i'll go for it if i won't get any other replies, thanks

Would a midi-thru box not do the job? Something like the W5 by Phil Rees ...

A manual switch with a small box, cables and plugs could be done for 10$
