Hi

With regard to sampling rates and bit depths in a recording, what constitutes this effect, is it a setting in the soundcard/audio interface ? Or is it a setting that needs to be adjusted in the DAW itself ? :?

Both. You'd set it in the DAW or audio editor when creating the project / file, and the soundcard will obey.

So it's optional then to use either the DAW or the Soundcard ?

It depends on the card's drivers and/or the quality of the software, and how well the two are matched...to be safe it's best to make settings at the hardware level and then make sure the software matches.

Meaning set both the DAW & Audio interface at 24bit together ?
