How to transform CC into automation lanes in Reaper or eXT?

Hi
this is perhaps a very basic question but I don't see how to do this either in energyXT or Reaper:

Here's what I do:

I record a midi sequence, say a long chord, with a pad preset loaded;
then over that I record while turning knobs on my control surface to add some modulation.

Both in eXT and Reaper,I'm left with the CC messages showing at the bottom of the midi clip, looking like little columns.

How would I transform these into an Envelope track (eXT) or automation lane (Reaper)?
