A new track from me.
Too bad that Alison Goldfrapp couldn't make it on time to do the vocals so I had to replace her parts with a synthesizer
If We Knew What We Are
All feedback is very welcome.
Can you spot the real analogue synths and the digital ones in this song? It has both of them.
PS. The three note high playing instrument in the 5 sec mark should be a high violin kind of instrument, but M-Tron Pro refused to play notes that high
EDIT:
If you can write good lyrics, please have a go with this song. I want to have a version of this song with vocals in it.

I don't understand why I'm the first one to comment, this is really great! The melody is great, the orchestration is fantastic. This really needs a singer and it will shine. I love the (mellotron?) choirs, the synth strings, the pop song structure.
Don't really have any suggestions, I just think that making it a few bpm's slower to give it a more laidback feel, and making the percussion more synthetic/analog sounding would make it even greater. But, really, just record a nice vocal on top, and it's ready.
I love it, great work!

Great songs...reminds me a bit of the electroclash-times in 2001 or so. I really like it. especially the dirty strings...

Here's the gear list btw:
Software:
Logic Pro 9
Sylenth1
M-Tron Pro
EWQL Symphonic Choirs
Glue
KR-Delay FS
Hardware:
Future Retro XS
Eurorack Modular synth
The main bass sound, lead melody and the random sound effect came from the analogue synths. Everything else was software.

BTW. Would someone be interested to write lyrics for this song so I can hand them to a singer and record the vocals sometime in the future?

These lyrics don't match you song but I am offering them to you for any other song .
I am looking to sell these lyrics:
"Trinity"
I want you to be my June wife,
I want to wake up with you after every morning noon and night,
I want to see your beautiful smile waiting for me at the door frame,
I don't care what people say. Sure I'm lame,
I want to embrace your fiery four foot frame,
I don't want to hurt you I'm not a player nor do I have game,
I want to be a part of your family I assure you this feeling is to remain,
I won't give out your number I swear on everything and / or my name,

Just heard the song after this thread got resurrected. Definitely brilliant melody writing! Are you still looking for lyrics for this?Kraku wrote:BTW. Would someone be interested to write lyrics for this song so I can hand them to a singer and record the vocals sometime in the future?

Ahoyhoy, not sure if these lyrics fit but thought they got the theme of the song pretty well (:
Are we real?
or were we made up by machines?
Are we the dreams of calculators
On the stages inside tv screens?
If we knew what we are
Maybe we would go far
In a world where computers ruled
If we knew what we are
We'd stop wishing on stars
And we'd no-longer be fooled
Are we sacred?
Is anything sacred here?
Has God become a tape cassette
When its CDs that blare in your ear?
If we knew what we are
Maybe we would go far
In a world where computers ruled
If we knew what we are
We'd stop wishing on stars
And we'd no-longer be fooled
Are you listening?
Can you hear us scream?
Stuck behind the circuit board
As we disintegrate at the seams
If we knew what we are
Maybe we would go far
In a world where computers ruled
If we knew what we are
We'd stop wishing on stars
And we'd no-longer be fooled
Are we real?

Nice Song.
[chorus]
What would we be,
If we could see,
Where life will take us.
Where would we go
If we should know,
What lies beyond (here).
Edit: Just noticed the date Well, you never know

I don't think he's monitoring this topic anymore. I've put up some lyrics on his youtube site a little while ago, but he seems to have lost interest.kelvyn wrote:What happened to the song? Was it ever finished? It's what Goldfrapp should be doing... so I'm really curious to hear how it turned out.

The comment section where I posted my take on the lyrics came out garbled, so I'll throw them up here just in case anyone was interested...
Couldn't bear the
apathy in
your face
Indecision
caught me in a
dark place
Would we be here
if we'd gone much too far
What would happen
if we knew what we are
Should I be sad
if it was fair
that I'm still living
Would it be bad
if no one cared
what I was giving
in the city
cruel snow keeps
falling
In my memory
distant voices
calling
I still search for
distant light from your star
What would happen
if we knew what we are
Should I be sad
if it was fair
that I'm still living
Would it be bad
if no one cared
what I was giving
Should I be sad
if it was fair
that I'm still living
Would it be bad
if no one cared
what I was giving
