I am sure I did something wrong here but have no idea how to correct it. I started Acid Pro 7 searching for VST but I think what I did was told it to search the entire drive. Now it hangs up and stops at nvolg32.dll I tried deinstalling and reinstalling with no change. Acid Pro 6 works fine as does Reaper adn Guitar Tracks. Any ideas???

Delete the preferences or config files usually works (although i am not sure what ACID Pro calls them. Usually they are in the documents and settings folder). Hope that helps

Forget Acid, Use Reaper! Both has some bugs, but Reaper is quicker, smaller, and its sound-structure is better

I think you may be right. Sony's Tech Support is horrible. Never heard back from them via e-mail and in order to call them I have to pay somewhere from $29 to as much as $149 depending on what it takes to solve the problem. I payed for Acid Pro 6...I forget how much but I think it was a few hundred then payed another $199 to get the update to 7 and now I cannot use it. After that I discovered Reaper but figured since I paid for this I might as well use it. So much for that idea.

Well if you like ACID there is no need to entirely abandon it - Just delete the plug-in scan/cache/config...whatever its called and should solve your problem

I'd like to I just cant find it! Tried searching with every name I could think of.

Just installed a demo version of ACID Music Studio 8 and the file inside of my program files (x86 if your on Win7 like i am on with this laptop atm). The file you need to delete is 'acidpro.seed' it is an .XML file with all the plug-ins information in it when i scanned my folder and then had a route around man. That should do it as it did for me

I do not work for Sony btw

Just heard back from Sony...this is what did it:
1. Click on Start > Control Panel > Folder Options > View, and place a check in the box for "show hidden files and folders". Click apply and Ok.

2. Locate this folder on your system:

Windows XP -
C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Local Settings\Application Data\Sony\ACID Pro\7.0

Windows Vista, 7 -
C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Sony\ACID Pro\7.0

Note: To browse to this directory, you will need to have 'Show hidden files and folders' turned on.

3. Delete the file named: acidpro.plugincache.xml located here.

Warning: You will lose all configuration and organization work you have done previously regarding plug-ins.

acidpro.seed is not the plug-in database file. It is the "seed" file for helping ACID to catagorize plug-ins in finds on your system. It has a simple list of known plug-ins and keywords to search against when a new plug-in is added to the plug-in database file.

1. Make sure You are running acid on a drive that is NOT the program drive, it does not like to be bothered while doing its acid thing

2. Store app presets in the folders that corrospond to the songs, if You make "catch all" presets then store them in the acid folder.

3. Do not allow acid to install anything to a folder that You cannot remember later, IE: users/whatever/whatever/whatever/some more whatever/ so on

I have been using acid since version 1 and have yet to lose anything at all other than those old pcs that were running it. No glitches, no pops no crackles Im just telling how this was achieved with everything from a nasty c-media built in card to a mbox pro.

Also make sure You have all Your VST's in a folder that is not on the drive that is recording, I said that before but in a different way. Make sure those are selected in the preferences of Acid. I wish I could talk to that Sony guy, they owe Me a shirt and hat. Back when it was Sonic Foundry, so thats 2 shirts and 2 hats Buddy. Never got those. Preferences is where it all happens and if needed, disable the offending plugin and see if that is the problem. I know my timeworks millenium stuff wont work in pro-tools so I had to disable it. It works lovely in acid.

Im a Sound Forge man myself as it happens but not ever used/tried ACID due to not needing to

Anyway problem solved for the op and @ mistaskanless yeah it is useful to have an application which keeps DX support, Agree man

PT and Live are the other main apps i spend majority of my time in. Pretty neat trio i reckon/my humble opinion
