has anyone figured out the best rewire workflow?
i'm not fond of using record- having no drag and drop really f's with my workflow- at least having an always-open separate browser would help- basically I want something where I open a template and everything loads up including the rewired program- all set up, ready to go. not something i have configure every single time! please let me know if anyone has suggestions. need this for a film score i'm working on. |

Curious about this too...
I've tried re-wire many times but always ended up dropping it. Seems one of those things which is great in theory. People seem to really like it, so there must be a way to make it easier. Wish there was something like LASH for Windows. ---- resistors are futile. you will be simulated. |

I created a plugin called rewire booter (Google may find it , dunno)
I created it to show how much devs suck in doing something as simple as opening related projects for a rewired project. I mean all they have to actually do is run the corresponding file and it will open its associated app, which with teh majority of Rewire capable apps will then configure themselves for the host project. Very very sad stuff that not even the "Gods" of cockos have added to Reaper (And i posted the plugin on their forum to cover the issue, very sad as i said) Such a simple fix and so easy to implement. Obviously you still have to save in each app (That can actually be done by the host app too with some sideways thinking) but you only ever have to open the host project in the master app. NAS ---- Omerta |

I cant even remember what forum i added it to hahaha
Was a long time ago and i only really made it because i got pissed off waiting for developers of various hosts to do it Like you say, so simple and honestly if developers cant even think to do something so simple WTF. As per typical devs reply of "This is cool we could implement this" and then never actually doing so because some other feature needs to get half done instead (I think everyone knows a dev that does this, some are famous for it in particular) ---- Omerta |

the one thing I hate about reaper is it's crappy rewire setup- you can rewire sure but you have to have a phd just to figure it out- how hard would it be to develop a program that similar to your program would load at the start- but automatically had a reserved 64 channels or so- and have those already set up in a separate folder with another folder for the midi channels? crazy, huh? lol |

Well the one good thing about Reaper is once you set up you just save as a track template, I am somewhat of an expert in Reaper routing so not really such hassle for me but the track template thing is very very quick once you set up once.
But again the Rewire support is erm somewhat unfinished and untidy in Reaper in my eyes. ---- Omerta |

could you upload a template? the problem with reaper forums- most of the people on there are so into being techheads they don't remember that the goal is to write music and that some of us as much as we enjoy how great reaper is, do not want to have to do background programming pretty much just to get something working- like with freeezing tracks- noone tells you where to download the action, etc unless you think about it yourself. no here it is, nothing. i hate that you can only use so many tracks in reason- 16 channels out if i remember correctly- ableton, while a cpu hog can send to as many channels as you want- it's a chore to set up in reaper and if you mess one thing up in the sends/etc you mess up all the other channels |

You need to make a template for each rewire app
So if i don't have the app you are wanting to use i wont be able to help What app is it you want to use ? For what its worth the Reaper forum was pretty cool years ago, now it is full of self important assholes giving bad advice to newcomers, the place is very very tiresome. ---- Omerta |

yeah. pretty much. great software and they know it- too well.
I use reason. I just want to be able to use all midi channels- having either instruments (factory sounds for now or combinators to host sounds/etc) triggered by said tracks- with all channels assigned in reaper- here is the tough part- unlike ableton, it'll assign them as dualstereo- is there a way to make them all stereo, rather than stereox2 each? |

You can have stereo or mono in Reaper , it is all in the routing
Unfortunately i do not own Reason If you jump in the Reaper irc i will give you any help you need though irc.mixxnet.net <<< throw that in google , should give you an online interface for the chat NAS ---- Omerta |
