Today was my 29th birthday, so I took the day off to get stoned and play with synthesizers.

I can see a CRAZY dubstep remix to that stuff man. Pretty dope. Was that just samples you recorded?

Thanks guys. I appreciate it. :)
This one was another one take improvisation with my modular synth.

I set up a sequence that I could manipulate globally with joystick or via the controls for the individual steps. The sequencer controlled the pitch of the oscillator (Hertz Donut, lofi FM oscillator) and the attack and release of the envelope (which also controls the rate of the sequence. The sequencer I use (MakeNoise Pressure Points+Brains) has touch plates for each stage so I can also trigger a specific step just by touching it. So this was a lot of fun to play. I could control the rate of the sequence and the amount of pitch glide from the joystick and play the sequencer like it was some kind of weird keyboard.

From there, the output of the synth was processed with my Eventide Pitch Factor. I mapped the parameters of the Pitch Factor (using the Crystal algorithm) to the XY pads on my V-Synth and KP3 so I could tweak the delay and pitch for each channel independently. while the sequence was running. The reverb was my TC Fireworx and Valhalla Room.

I wish I had video of the performance, there was a lot going on. Did I mention it was fun?

Thanks for listening, dude.

Here are the two videos I've done focusing on controlling my synth with the KP3

I've been really inspired by the pioneers of early electronic music lately... this piece and some others on my soundcloud page (mostly the pseudo-serialism stuff) heavily influenced by the likes of Morton Subotnick as well as Bebe and Loise Barron, John Cage, Pierre Schaeffer etc.

A fine way to spend one's birthday, I'd say- and happy b-day btw. :)

Hey, thanks for the links Justin ! Your the best!
yeah, nothing wrong with the 'old timers'. I was a big fan of the Nonesuch artists when they were being released. I remember lots of computer music was either coming from Ircam,Paris or universities here in the states. Those were the only ways you could fund computer music research. Charles Dodge was one. (synthetic vocalization - "The Story of our Lives") I recommend " Earths Magnetic Field" if you can find it. :)

My fave Subotnick was "Touch". I only have the vinyl, and it's beat. I need to get the cd. Now i'm on a mission.

I just loved this Birthday Jam. It's old style with new fidelity, and new sounds to boot.
