been using mutools for 2 weeks now and im strugging to get the kind of sounds you get from a good vst/i. mutools just cant do it. i mean, yes, you can write music with mutools but the quality of the modules just isnt there yet. even reason 1.0 had much better modules. also, ive yet to hear a really strong song made in mutools. is it just me?
any plans for a real preset library? 200 presets is really not enough. if, you were to compare mutools to reason, factory soundbank wise, even the reason 3 factory soundbank contained thousands of presets. also, i think mutools just uses way to much cpu. also the preset sounds are quite amateur. maybe hire some sound designers to make some more powerful sounds. but then, if you do, how much can they do with such limited cpu.
i think the idea of mutools is great. the world could always use another self contained studio. im not sorry i bought mutools, but in its current state i cant see myself using it too much. i dont want to shoot the messenger but wanted to kindly state my observations.

I disagree. I think the MUX sound engine can do a lot, and with high-quality sound.AstralExistence wrote:been using mutools for 2 weeks now and im strugging to get the kind of sounds you get from a good vst/i. mutools just cant do it.
Can you please be more specific.i mean, yes, you can write music with mutools but the quality of the modules just isnt there yet.
Which modules lack what qualities?
I think the Pure M4 demo track is a nice demo track:also, ive yet to hear a really strong song made in mutools. is it just me?

Doesn't it sound good?
(appart from whether you like the style of music)
I count more than 650 MUX presets. Where do you get the '200'?any plans for a real preset library? 200 presets is really not enough.
Also, i think there are many great sounding presets in there.
That said, i'm looking forward to further expand it, and to add more ways to contribute.
If anyone has MUX presets to share, please let me know!
MuLab indeed uses a bit more cpu than average.if, you were to compare mutools to reason, factory soundbank wise, even the reason 3 factory soundbank contained thousands of presets. also, i think mutools just uses way to much cpu.
Because it does not make any compromise sound-wise.
That's why it sounds so good. Strange that you don't hear that.
Also cpu-wise: When MuLab has multi-core support, things will be rendered faster.
Thanks for that! Always open for straight and constructive criticism. Looking forward to your elaborated feedback. Thanks again.i dont want to shoot the messenger but wanted to kindly state my observations.

I don't think it's fair to compare MuLab with Reason. Because Reason is a closed environment it must have super high quality modules, because there are no external alternatives to use within reason. At least not in a convenient way, like VST support.
With MuLab you have the choice to either use the internal modules, build your own modules or use external VST plugins. I use a lot of external vst plugins within MuLab. Why would you want to restrict yourself to only using the MuLab modules and presets?
As a sequencer I find MuLab personally very convenient to work with. And MuSynth sounds pretty good to my ears. It's not the be all end all of synths for me, but it doesn't have to be, because I can load all my favourite synths in it, just like that

well the problem im having is that when i make my own sounds, they sound like raw waves. and like general midi.mutools wrote:I disagree. the presets sound ok but again when i make my own sounds the sounds lack movement. there just static. as are many of the presets. sound wise, mutools sounds great. very clear. actually, i didnt realize there was over 600, i read online there were only 200, thats inspiring to hear. the demo, yes it very good, but when i write a song, i on average, use, 1 bass, 3 leads, 1 pad, 2fx, 2 atmos, and some drum tracks. though i have not got that far in mu, i fear mu would be crippled cpu wise. then again, i dont know. i start a song, and start to see that cpu bar go higer and higher
well when mu goes multicore that will be awsome! i think its a very valid point on why we see no new sounds be it third party, or factory sound bank that really sound powerful because mutools in its current state just couldn't handle it. multicore is really gonna take mutools to a whole new level i truly believe that. i really dont know why though you choose a non native project that being mu vsti over the multicore priority. it doesn't make any sense. r and d should be focused on mutools only. if ever there was a serious priority to address in mu tools it would be multicore.

well i want to use it as a closed environment. i dont think its unfair to compare it to reason. it is, pretty much being advertised as a self contained studio with the added benefit of using vst plugins.Nielzie wrote:I don't think it's fair to compare MuLab with Reason. Feel free to ask for tips here!AstralExistence wrote:well the problem im having is that when i make my own sounds, they sound like raw waves. and like general midi.
What kind of sound do you want to make?

I disagree. The plugin world is an important market. And i'm sure also MuLab users will be happy to be able to use their Mu sounds and effects in other environments. So i think it does make sense as well marketing-wise as creative-wise.i really dont know why though you choose a non native project that being mu vsti over the multicore priority. it doesn't make any sense.
Sure, for MuLab itself the main priority now is multi-core, absolutely.r and d should be focused on mutools only. if ever there was a serious priority to address in mu tools it would be multicore.
Ok, there are some micro updates sometimes but that's mostly about fixes.
Doing my best to realize all these things asap.

and i do realize your just a single developer. why not bring more developers into the picture? i admit you have accomplished a lot for a single developer.mutools wrote:

Given certain historical events, the idea scares me as a user.

its a risk just like any other risk in business. im neither for or against adding more developers. its true, its risky. but a successful company doesn't get where they are by playing it safe.

That's certainly an important issue. It's the chicken and the egg problem.whyterabbyt wrote:Cost?AstralExistence wrote:why not bring more developers into the picture?
No money for extra powers, so the project grows slow, which is not an attractive consequence...
Thinking a lot about this, searching for solutions to make this project grow faster and make it more attractive.
It's a challenge

the only solution i can think of if money is a real issue (which i no doubt it is), offer the added the developer a piece of the pie with no promise of success.mutools wrote:That's certainly an important issue.
