Vote for Mr. Bill instead: http://contest.ableton.com/tracks/103
He's a top bloke and deserves to win. Anyone who has watched his videos in the past owes it to him to vote for him!

Just listened to this a few times after fatc's "shamans lament". This was a great follow-on. Nice sounds and reverb on here. I particularly liked the lead synth. Great for relaxing after dealing with the washing-machine.
Good work

Wow. This idea of complementing someones work only to be followed up with a request to check out the poster's work has reached KVR as well. Well I guess it probably happens sometimes but it's rampant in this Ableton contest.
What is this called? I guess it's a form of spamming, but is there a name for this?

The name is "to be split off." I've already had to do that once before. Better post a thread to let newcomers understand that barging in on others' threads this way is Very Poor Manners Indeed.
[edit] Righty, I've removed the offending comment and put it in a thread of its own.

Awesome track, Syncretia!
As a long time Mr. Bill (and Electrocado) fan (and tutorial consumer) myself, I can't say that I like his entry appreciably better than yours. And I like his entry alot.
The idea of trying to do a remix and compete against the likes of both of you (and so many others) and do it in 24 hours or less is unfathomable to me. My hats off to you for the effort and talent it takes to do this kind of work so quickly.
Really--nice job.

My deepest apologies : I was looking for your sound via Google to find your page in Ableton contest (I was looking forward to vote for you) and I arrived here...Syncretia wrote:Wow. As you were presenting your work and Bill's one, I seized the opportunity to present mine, no offense intended.

Thats OK. you're basically forced in to doing it because of the way the contest is structured. My deepest apologies : I was looking for your sound via Google to find your page in Ableton contest (I was looking forward to vote for you) and I arrived here..
I was just commenting on how disingenuous the whole idea of using social networking to jostle for a position in a competition is. It really leaves a bad taste in my mouth that it happened so much during the competition. I think it just really takes away from the sincerity of a comment when someone asks for something in return for their comment.
SLD - this may be the greatest compliment I've ever received. Thanks very much for your comment. One day I'd like to be 1/5 as good as Mr. Bill.As a long time Mr. Bill (and Electrocado) fan (and tutorial consumer) myself, I can't say that I like his entry appreciably better than yours. And I like his entry a lot.

Totally agreed!Syncretia wrote:I was just commenting on how disingenuous the whole idea of using social networking to jostle for a position in a competition is. It really leaves a bad taste in my mouth that it happened so much during the competition.
I really tried to stick to my motto, being real in every comment... But that's hard work indeed
Agreed again : technically it feels Mr.B is far ahead. But I value music for the emotion it makes me feel at first/most. Which is why I too prefer your track with trip-hop approach that gives room to personal feeling than well-produced dubstep/tendance track like Bill's that smells already like déjà-vu.I can't say that I like his entry appreciably better than yours. And I like his entry a lot.
That said, I can understand one respects him because of his production talents.
Though I was a bit astonished by your willing to step aside Mr.B in this contest: I felt that you were minimizing your own talent...
