I've been using Cantabile Solo 2 for a long time & for some reason, recently it's decided to work differently on one of my PCs. I'm using an M-Audio sound card & ONLY in Cantabile I can't change the ASIO driver settings. The buffer is "Stuck" at 64 Samples. I've tried uninstalling & reinstalling CS2, but that didn't change anythings. Is there a way to get the software to completely uninstall? I don't know if that would help, but when I installed it after removing & rebooting, it just came up with the same settings I had before. I didn't have to even enter my registration info. I'm using the current version too.

Any ideas on what I can do to fix this weird problem? I've got some other DAW & they all let me change the settings. Only Cantabile is stuck.

Indeed that sounds strange.

Have you try to first create an empty session?

You can try to remove cantabiles settings.ini file to force cantabile to save a fresh one.

Open the setup - options dialog, click "Resources" then "Disgnostics. In the Diagnostics window click "find log file". This opens an explorer window with cantabile data where you can find "settings.ini". Just rename it to keep it for later. Then restart cantabile.

I tried that & it didn't help. I even went into the .ini file & manually set the buffer size to 512 & when I open CS2 it shows 64. I can look at the buffer size in the driver software by clicking the settings button in CS2 & it will show 512, but when I go back to CS2 it still shows 64.

Is there any difference between completely removing the software & reinstalling it & just renaming the .ini files & restarting? I realize that there are probably settings in the registry that will be removed by uninstalling the software, but do you think that would help?

No clue what's happening here

Not all drivers allow all buffer sizes - some are limited to specific settings.

I didn't mean you to edit the settings file but let Cantabile create a new one... anyways.

I can't imagine that Cantabile stores audio card settings in the registry - but I don't know either.

I guess this is a question you should post to Topten Software.
