Band in a Box, ChordPulse, Jammer (although it hasn't been updated in years)....

Also, technically, EZ Piano and EZ Drums from Toontrack, but I find them a pain, rather limited, and not EZ at all.

Thank you for your assistance. I am looking at something that is in the league of the Yamaha MOX8 http://usa.yamaha.com/products/music-production/synthesizers /mox_series/mox8/?mode=model.

Great demos, still visiting. That voice somehow sounds familiar. The video also has a signature of perfection. My memory is failing, now where do I know this voice?

i am user of HN2 about 2,5 years
its great tool for capturing musical ideas fast
( this is "cliche" but its true).
also now user can build/create own phrase libraries which is great feature.
and..
Synfire Pro
(after almost 3 years demoing) i purchased Synfire 2 months ago.
you are right its big money to spend at once.
"in my opinion" its worth to every penny that i spend.

It's said elsewhere that Steinberg's HalionSonic received a lot from Yamaha Motif synths.
Although i never owned a Yamaha HW synth, i do have HalionSonic, which does offer quite some one finger performances.

Great advice, thank you all. I play acoustic guitar (classic style) and would like to change my style of playing to more jazz. I had visited Best Buy the other day and sat playing the Yamaha MOX synth with many backing tracks which several were great with a mixture of techno and natural sounding instruments. The retail price is around $1300.

Performance: I would like to:

A - Perform live - I do not desire to use a computer in a live environment

B - Sketch out track ideas for musicians

C - Use the sequencing looping to layout phrases

There are worlds for a backing track/ auto accompany engine, they are VST and non VST. My thinking was to use Mutools/MUX with a VST plugin, however a backing track sequencer may be better as a host and not VST because of the complexities.

Newly discovered product:

Audio Mulch - innovative way of adding patches, price point is around $190.00. Most of the samples sounds like a signal generator with a beat Sad

I will be reviewing those programs you all have suggested.

Interesting but overpriced ..
There is also a cataneya VSt plug for composing , but difficult to use in Mulab, because Mulab lacks a midi recorder
Different times pointed out to the Mulab developer, but it has not his priority

I do not quite understand, no midi recorder? I thought anything which recorded midi data was a midi recorder.

Allow me to nuancate this:
The wishlist contains many many wishes.
It's not because the Event Recorder module is not at the top of the list that this means it is at the bottom of the list. The Event Recorder module is an important feature request.

MuLab does record MIDI events, but only those arriving at MIDI input.
We want a separate Event Recorder module that can be plugged in at any point in the modular setup so that you can also record eg the output of a VST plugin eg an arranger or arpeggiator etc.

It seems interesting that the making of a MUX VST has made its way to the top of the list while development of a VST version of MUX does nothing to enhance MuLab.

Thank you for the explanation of midi event recording.

Keeping the developer fed does nothing, then?
