hello all!
my studio pc is not connected to the internet - it's running winxp home version. i need to register some new software on it that requires an internet connection to get installed/registered. i'm new to this wi-fi thing, but my main desktop (that is running windows7)has wi-fi and i need to know how to get my studio pc online through the wi-fi connection on my main desktop. will this do what i need? http://www.ebay.com/itm/802-11n-g-b-150Mbps-Mini-USB-WiFi-Wi reless-Adapter-Network-LAN-Card-w-Antenna-/200755616792?pt=U S_USB_Wi_Fi_Adapters_Dongles&hash=item2ebdf79c18 any help is so much appreciated!! Don't enable wifi. It's worse on a DAW than a regular internet connection.
Why not simply hook it up to the cable you'd otherwise use on the other computer? Most times it works straight away. After the registration just don't connect anymore. ---- We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated. My MusicCalc is back online!! |

try a cross over and connect through the WIFI assuming the main isn't a studio PC. you'll have to do research to get it done but it's out there. ---- A minor scale is a major scale starting 3 half steps down from the major and visa versa. Any Chord has as many versions as it has notes. |

JUNEBUG Do you mind me asking what software you are trying to install? AFAIK all music software I have come across (with the exception of Propellerheads RE plugins - and there is a workaround for those), have some method of installing to an 'offline' computer, usually via an html link or passkey that you copy and send via your 'online none studio pc' that is connected to the internet. |

hi there -
i'm trying to install the ARTURIA 25-key analog factory player thing - i traed some other studio gear to a guy for it, it was suppose dto come siwth a bunch of virtual synths, but he didnt have the installationcd, or any of the serial numbers... he assured me i could could get it up and running withought trouble just using the blue usb dongle that was included, but i've had ZERO luck so far... tried everything i can think of, but with NO LUCK, ARTURIA says i DEFINATELY HAVE to be connected to the internet to get the stuff activated, sooooo ... ?? tried to just order a new install disc from ARTURIA, so i would get the new serial numkbers for the vst-i synths, etc - but they havent been much help this far... my new plan is to use a usb wi-fi connection to try and temporarily get online with my studio pc and see if i can get the synths working that way, but i'm pretty sure i'll still need the individual serial numbers to get each vst synth runnning - i'm willing to PAY ARTURIA for new codes, but they seem to think i can get the stuff running if my studio pc is just connected gto the internet... i'll keep posting unitl i figure it out. anyone's advice is appreciated! So if you don't want the hassle and drag of security on it, use a cross over cable, set up the adapter for DHCP, hook it to your main PC, go to it's adapter, click the sharing tab and check the, Alow other network users to connect through this computers internet conection box. I may have left out a step or two but that's basically it.---- A minor scale is a major scale starting 3 half steps down from the major and visa versa.
