Got something in mind so hopefully will be working on it tonight. Will have to find some time to record with a mic this month though, so that tends to drag it out. |

Since I live at the beach, you would think this would be a natural category for me, but to be honest, I don't know if I can come up with anything appropriate. When I think of the beach, I think of surf music, and that is so far out of my wheelhouse, I wouldn't know where to begin. I suppose an ambient piece complete with the sound of waves crashing on shore and seagulls in the distance could work, but I don't know if that is going be what you guys are looking for.
Any thoughts? ---- This space has been unintentionally left blank. |

I was at the beach last weekend. I was floating in the ocean singing to myself and a melody emerged that stuck with me and I'm now putting a track together around it.
When I think of the beach I think of roots reggae, so I'm using that genre as a loose kind of guide as I compose, but am sure my finished track will stray from that a bit. So my recommendation is to spend some time in the ocean, and just see what comes to you. Open yourself to the big blue. |

Similiar problem here: I live some kilometers away from the beach, but I'm not very fond of everything concerning "the beach in summer"... I'll probably come up with something more meditative, like a walk in a desert beach in winter, which is more on my mood. At my own risk |

You could do a song about genus: pelicanus, or sumfink. |

Any thoughts? In a fit of generosity I'm prepared to do a house swap with you as I'm sure living here in town will act as a great way to focus your composition skills, meanwhile I'll hang out at your place, spend all month on the beach and come up with nothing for the competition Jon |

oddbodd did a few great beach songs many years ago:
http://www.oddbod.net/seahorseinajar.mp3 http://www.oddbod.net/dungeness.mp3 http://www.oddbod.net/favourite%20beach.mp3 I just thought that because of their greatness that they should be brought back for replay by some who remember them and hopefully those that haven't heard them before. -Scott |

Wow, excellent songs by oddbod! Ukulele is such a great beachy instrument, I was wondering if it might show up on some tracks this month. |

What'd I miss? The men's 100 metre final? ---- Time is an illusion - lunchtime doubly so. |

Very cool ! those Oddbod beach songs are excellent.
This month I'm surprised to be the 1st one to enter a submission. Never happened before Heading for the beach in a couple of days or so...
Cheers |
