I've been reviewing/searching for a really good all-purpose algorithmic reverb; I believe I will be saving up to purchase Redline Reverb. At any rate, I also own NI Komplete 8 (and quite a few extras, thanks to sales, vouchers, etc..). Which means that I already own Guitar Rig Pro and Reflektor.

I've been enjoying using Reflektor, loaded up with 140 plate IRs, on some vocal tracks. THe reverb quality is definitely better than what I was using (epicVERB). I will always appreciate Bootsy's hard work and excellent plugins, but this nifty "zero latency", easy-to-use convolution reverb by NI is really nice. It seems to be very conservative in CPU usage too; considering it is a convolution reverb.

I'd like to hear what other Reflektor users have to say.

I like Reflektor a lot - but I barely use it (read not at all). Launching GR every time I want to use it may sound like a silly obstacle, but always make me reach for something else instead.

Reflektor isn't cheap, at MSRP of $120, but it certainly is very good. Easy to use, and provides very, very nice reverbs.

Don't save for red line reverb (which is awsome, by the way) and buy this which imo is THE best algorithmic reverb on the market :

Reverberate is a little full on functionality which is why Reverberate Core slims down the featureset and hopefully eases up the learning curve a little.

I just can't get reflektor to sound right. Still, glad you are liking it. I got reverberate a long time ago and it seems to work more in my mixes. YMMV (actually, the is obvious HiHi )

Reflektor is great for certain things and I'd use it more if it were more slimline. I will be moving to a more powerful PC soon, so I might use it more. It's the processor hit that really makes me not use it so much, but I've got some surprisingly great sounds out of it the few times I've fired it up.

The free (donation-ware) Reverberate LE is very easy to use and very low on CPU. It does lack certain functions, however, like modulation options and "true stereo". Sounds great though.

from where I'm sitting Reflektor seems like it's taking more CPU. and is not half as flexible
it is nice ! but somehow never use it outside of a guitar-rig context... never "reach for it"

Reverberate is significantly more CPU friendly on my mbp than Reflektor.

I can't really get my head around what NI is thinking with all of their new effects plugins. They've got Reflektor, Traktor's 12, the SSL stuff, and the classic compressors, and they all require Guitar Rig/Player to be loaded to use. From my experience, they seem like decent plugins, but it's just such a terrible architecture and a hassle to load Guitar Rig for each instance.

I got Reflektor with my Komplete upgrade, but I will literally never use it, just because of the Guitar Rig limitation. Most of the major hosts have their own IR Reverb plugin included these days anyway, so it's just easier to use Cubase's or Studio One's native plugins.

For me, it's a double edged sword. I like Reflektor a lot, but I would get a ton more use out of it if there was a standalone .vst version (i.e. outside of GR5).

On the other hand, Guitar Rig is a very handy container for stacking and routing an amazing array of effects in millions of possible combinations. (U-he has been trying to crack that code with the development of Uhbiks 'X'. Once created, the Uhbiks line will have the best of both worlds--standalone .vst that can be assembled as a group in the 'x' container if needed.)

My favorite thing about the Guitar Rig model are the presets for all the NI effects products that use OTHER NI effects products in some very interesting ways. Of course you can get lost in all the effect arrangements that are possible, but it's nice to have that freedom.

cheers

Yes, I do agree with you about GR being a double-edged sword. I too really appreciate the routing capabilities, but I do wish the plugins were stand-alone as well. Wink

Oh well, I am really enjoying the quality of the reverbs. I'm also using a few really nice quality "free" IRs of my own that I got from a ("German"?) website. There are really, really good sounding UAD140 samples, Lexicon MX500, Quantec, etc.. I actually found them listed on a post here at KVR. I can't remember what the site is though, and I forgot to bookmark it. I'll try to find it again . . . Embarassed

Thanx a bunch. I will be giving the LE version a serious trial run. Actually, I may also try the "Core" version demo as well to discern the difference between the Tru-Stereo and the free version.

I do like Guitar Rig, but I don't know if it's my DAW or if it's a GR5 issue that's causing me a little bit of frustration. Very often (at least half of the time) when I re-open a project in Mixcraft 6 (build 195), my Guitar Rig Pro 5 settings ARE NOT SAVED nor are they correctly being reloaded. It is a bit of a pain-in-the-noodle to have to recheck each instance of Guitar Rig and make sure that the correct patches are loaded. Once correctly reloaded, the settings remain. Unfortunately, they may revert back to "some other patch" the next time I relaunch my DAW & project file(s).
