So...
If anyone has experience with these 3 reverbs, can you please tell me, which one do you prefer and why? I am looking for a new reverb to add a bit of ''special'' atmo to my tracks. Also, please vote...thx... ps and don't mention any other reverb, I am not interested in others... |

Asking this on KVR and expecting an unbiased answer? You must be new here. My choice is "Welcome to KVR." ---- Cowbells! |

you may also want to try out ubermod. It can do special atmospheric/modulated reverbs also. I mentioned it anyways because it might have been overlooked as being a reverb. I often turn to it before shimmer for trippy reverbs. |

Here is a non-scientific comparison experiment between Blackhole and Shimmer I made some weeks ago:
http://soundcloud.com/sampleconstruct/comparison-experiment- eventide Eventually I did not get Blackhole, but I got B2 which is brilliant, as is Shimmer. |

Blackhole sounds a tad bit more organic, but Shimmer sounds bigger and has much better stereo image. Hm... |

Blackhole sounded more musical it's very creative to work with. I think the brand name helped my choice too. Eventide in native news made me drool before I tested it.
When I demoed Valhalla DSP Shimmer and Eventide Blackhole side by side It was hard to make up my mind based on just the sound quality. |

I must confess, one of those Blackhole votes was a pity-vote |

Shimmer. ---- This is a block of text that can be added to posts you make. There is a 255 character limit. Once I have something clever, I will certainly fill it in. |

Shimmer makes sense.. the PRICE, NO ilok, and 64 bit on every platform and a top developer. No wonder it is leading the polls. The only one of the three that is currently mac 64.

Blackhole sounds a bit darker... But Shimmer has also a color mode option to sound darker. IMO Blackhole is a bit too late.
B2... Very nice reverb, sounds smooth and expensive... I have no idea about all the new features like this distortion and stuff, have only tested the demo for a short time. Shimmer wins. |

The OP did say he doesn't want to hear about other reverbs, but I have to say I agree with this. I've ValhallaRoom for some time and had never made up my mind about Shimmer since I found I could get those massive reverbs from VRoom (without pitch-shifting). But one thing I always liked about Shimmer was that you could adjust the controls without getting that aweful crackle you usually get from reverbs when changing parameters. Ubermod can also be used as a realtime tweaking reverbs and can do lush big verbs, with the added benefit that it can be morphed into a chorus or delay smoothly! Worth a mention at least since it's the same dev. ---- This is a block of text that can be added to posts you make. There is a 255 character limit.
