Demons
I wanted to use guitar on something again, so I ended up creating this. It probably fits in the post-rock genre, I'm not sure. Anyway, it's laidback and hopefully gives off a slightly dark vibe. The accoustic guitars are actually from the Kontakt factory library as I don't have a mic that captures accoustic guitar too well and hell, I just liked the sound of it. The short guitar solos are me playing guitar and I also played bass. I'm not exactly a guitar god. The drums are Toontrack Classic. The organy-stringy sound is Hollow Sun's Cathotron. The other strings near the end are 8Dio Bazantar. It is also Bazantar in the chorus with a little bit of Basstard. http://soundcloud.com/shangsean/demons http://k006.kiwi6.com/hotlink/zq28pnj7z7/demons.mp3 Unholy Ascent This track is still in the Infestation universe. On this track I used Kontakt strings, Garritan Personal Orchestra strings running though Camel Space for the drone (why, I don't know), Galaxy X for metallic scrapes, Heavyocity for crashes and drums near the end, 8Dio Basstard for the rhythms in the middle, Toontrack Electronic drums running through Etch and Reflektor for the beat(?) that runs though the drone part, a little Morphestra in the last section for strings, Venus Women's Choir for the choir and DCAM Synth Squad for the ghostly moans. http://soundcloud.com/shangsean/unholy-ascent http://k006.kiwi6.com/hotlink/9o5tq2eq8y/unholy_ascent.mp3 Why I felt the need to explain all that, I don't know. It might be the cold and flu medication. I know I already have a thread running with some tracks, but the music tracker doesn't seem to see links if you post them after the initial thread starting post. So apologies if it's too much. |

Demons had a fairly creepy feel, but that's what I was hoping for. I thought the track sounded like a mixture of '80s PT and Bo Hansson. The bass guitar sounded great and I liked the "bowed" double-bass (bazantar?) at the end, and the "harmonic" strings during the "chorus" that reminded me of '70s VDGG.
Unholy Ascent would make good OST material and fits right in with the subterranean atmosphere of Infestation. I really love the claustrophobic feel of the first section, but it's all good. The change at 2:17 is great. Nice work |

Thanks a lot for the feedback. That certainly is the Bazantar at the end. It sounds great, but to be honest, I've found limited use for it. Had to try and get it into something to justify the purchase, so I'm glad you like it.
I was originally going to split Unholy Ascent into two tracks, but I also liked the transition, so I left it as one. Thanks again! |

This is going to be the final part (for the moment) of my little Infestation project. In the church, the "trouble" is approaching quickly and just as it's about to get ugly - an eerie silence... before the heavy duty machines come lumbering in to save the day, guns blazing. And for a job well done, a bit of serenity brings it to a close.

I particularly liked Unholy Ascent. I'm glad you didn't split it in two as I like the transition, too. ---- "Be excellent to each other." Dax IX (Music) | Ambient Online Cubase 7, A Few VSTi, Win8 Pro 64, AMD FX-6100, 32GB RAM, 3.25TB total HDD, SSD |
