Hi,
I'm looking for some guidance on how to achieve the bass in this track. The sound starts pretty much right at the start of the track. Here it is:
I just can't work out for the life of me what it could be.
Thanks
How would you achieve this bass?

The trick here is a few fold:
1.) Open your favorite Synth and start with a Tom Drum preset. If no Tom Drum preset, learn how to make a Tom from the gazillion tutorials on it (I'm shocked Chrome isn't having an issue with the word gazillion)
2.) Ok, so from there Nic's bass actually doesn't have as MUCH of a pitch envelope that a normal Tom Drum does. It does pitch down but it's slight. If your pitch envelope on your Tom Drum preset is 40%, put it down closer to 15%
3.) The sound is heavily saturated, I like ableton's saturator for this, turn color on and wave form to medium. Push up the input so the color starts to distort a bit
4.) low pass filter that guy all the way down to 500hz or so
Enjoy.
