My old evolution keyboard, although it works ok when I play it, when it's just sitting there and I'm recording in Logic sends random midi CC messages.
So it creates a load of unwanted midi "chatter", which I then need to delete and is a pita.
Is it knackered or is there something I can do to stop these unwanted messages?
And if it is knackered, which midi controller to swap to?
I'm desparate to have knobs that I can use to edit my mainly native instrument software plug ins.....

Hi action, before you decide to purchase a new kb you may want to consider using a MIDI data filter plugin to solve your problem. You wil probably need to use a MIDI analyzer plugin too so you can identify the particular culprit messages being sent by your Evolution board. Once identified you can then work out your best approach to block the 'chatter' i.e. by channel, data type, etc.
pizmidi plugin pack or ndc midi pack are freeware and good places to start your MIDI manipulation adventures.
Btw if your Evolution board is lacking knobs, sliders, transport etc. A cost effective alternative to a new kb may be to invest in something like a Korg nanokontrol

What message is it sending? Volume slider or pitch wheel?
Can you simply switch it off when not in use?
If you want/need more knobs/faders, then just buy a new keyboard.

Ok so I think I've cracked it.
Just turn it off when not hitting notes!
It's an Evolution 48 key jobby with 16 knobs. The knobs are configured for certain CC's and I think tey probly just need a good clean.
I took a look at the Korg nano but they don't really do what I want them too. Was tempted by the Novation thing, but its expensive, as are the Axiom ones.
So I've bought TouchOSC for my iPad mini and with that you can create your own custom pages of controllers, so will give that a go before I shell out for a new hardware controller.
