Insert vs. Send issue

Why is it that having an audio clip with an inserted 50% mix FX Layer container with a parallel plugin sounds significantly different than the same plugin on a return channel sending +0.00dB to the same audio clip?

Unless I'm missing something they should sound identical considering a 50% mix insert is the same thing as a +0.00dB send. BIT-8 is most obvious and the on a send it seems to have no tail while an insert does.

I just did the equivalent thing in ableton and they're exactly the same so this has to be a bitwig engine issue
