Automation Issue with Controllers?

Or am I just being stupid?

So I installed the MPK49 preset from BWS into the Akai editor. Works pretty good. However, when learn controller assignment in polysynth, all starts going wrong.

It won't playback automation that I record. Even though I can see it in the lane. I then clear the controller assignment in hopes that I can playback automation of the freq that I can even see the automation for but it won't work. I thought maybe the controller is hijacking the automation but its not. I have tried all 3 modes of automation just for the sake of it.

Is this an issue or am I just not doing something. Other applications don't have anything additional you have to do(Logic and Live). Any suggestions would be appreciated as this is seriously annoying.
