Join Notes variation seems broken, when using as phrase variation.

and a suggestion:
i was thinking this for a while
save/load Tracks as template (one more browser?) ...
all settings: Midi Out or sf2 + Variations + Midi CC s + included phrases...
it would be useful IMHO.

Yes, I have already proposed to make an exact copy of the track (so that you do not configure a new track again), but save track template is even better! +1

And I propose to make a timeline presets.
Very powerful to quickly select presets timeline (intro, chorus, etc.)

I see what the problem is. The problem is that phrase variations are applied to the phrases after phrase generation but before rendering to absolute notes. Which means a variation can access notes in relative form (E.g. bottom chord note). It does not know about chords or rendered notes. This is why it joins bottom chord note+bottom chord note+bottom chord note+bottom chord note to one long note.

This is not really a bug - this is the way it works - but it would be more sensible if it worked the way you described. I will address this shortly.

you can duplicate a track with all settings if you press '*' (asterisk).

It is a good idea to read through the keyboard shortcuts. There are some commands without assigned shortcuts.

actually don't remember did i ever use join notes as a phrase variation, i think this is why i thought it was a bug...
if no one will complain about it, please just ignore my report.

is it possible to have Sustain Notes option in Apply Rhythm Variation?
we can do this with variations of course but, might be useful as a one click solution.

No, your request about Join Notes makes perfect sense. I need to add another processing stage for phrase variations for that.

Would you like 'Sustain Notes' until the end of phrase, just like the 'Sustain' option in 'Adjust Note Lengths'? :

This can be quickly added, I just want to be sure that I do the right thing.

Just as info:

v3.1b3 definitely crashes when try to open for the first time and it tries to open the last older composition (I am not sure which 3.xbeta I used before installing this one).

Version I had before runs absolutely stable. I tried several times then used "alt", then it openend. Still then not able to open older composition. Had just a little try with one track test new composition, saved, closed, that could be reopend again. No problem for me with the old compositions, if I use a beta....

Just to mention and cause you told that there could be problems with the v3.1b2

please send me any composition file that crashes during opening.
I tried to load many past compositions and it worked well.
I was able to open the file saved in v3.0b1 too.
